I can totally live with him going to UNLV. The ISU fans are hilarious right now.
They have an 853 page thread on this kid on CycloneFanatic.... W...T...F....
Uh oh! Cue the 'Pitino to ISU' rumors. He commented on how cold it was on his show last night a couple times. He might be drawn to the tropical climes of Ames.
Kimmel and Guy Fieri opened up their pocketbooks. Vaughn was the one of the big 3 I wanted most, but with how dirty and scummy this all feels, I would take either Tyus or Travis in a heartbeat. Even if everything is on the up and up, it sure looks shady.Im convinced Jimmy was the lead recruiter

I think the decision was made last summer and it is only a matter of time before the Kaffey announcement is made, I like your timing about that.
I wish that you'd stop posting altogether. Can't always get what you want.I wish that people would stop ranting about how dirty programs are just because they land three 5 star recruits in one class like UNLV did. It doesn't ALWAYS mean a program is scandalous because they work their asses off in recruiting and build a solid reputation. It smells of envy and jealousy because our beloved Gophers rarely land anything better than a decent 3 star guy. It happens (Dre Hollins, Rodney Williams), but not often. So let's ease off on bashing programs for simply getting players we all wanted.

Not saying you specifically, but weren't a lot of us guilty of the same thing when Travis went to Stanford? Admittedly and regrettably, I was among them.

UNLV had the #1 pick in the NBA draft last year and is bringing in a potential top 10-15 national class in 2014-15. I'm guessing assistant coach Stacey Augmon knows something about what it takes to get to the NBA. It's also an area of the country that he is now familiar with and a fun city if he's just looking to play one year of college. Plus, they draw okay, even better than Minnesota.
Iowa St boosters couldn't come up with enough money in the end?
\He can have fun in the MWC and rarely be on TV. Out of sight, out of mind
UNLV is on TV quite a bit. They have 14 games on CBS Sports Network (about 3 million fewer homes than the Big Ten Network), 2 games on ESPN2, 6 on ESPN3
Guessing with three top40 recruits and a game at Kansas, they'll get even more tv coverage next year.

Quite a bit different when a kid comes and sits behind your bench after he's publicly stated an announcement date for later that week and invites the public. I don't think the two situations are similar at all other than that they have to do with reactions to high school kids making decisions.
As for Vaughn? When your final two choices are Iowa State and UNLV after being recruited heavily by 4-5 blue blood programs and your home state school...I think speculation is only natural. The ISU assistant coach seems to be way out of bounds by essentially making Vaughn's announcement for him and generally acting like a child who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas.
So if the Gophers ever land an out of state 5 star player should we all immediately turn on our program for being dirty? Even more so than UNLV who at least has a tradition in basketball in the last 25 years/

I'm thinking this is roughly how it broke down...
The old Findlay Prep head coach, who is currently an assistant at UNLV, called up Findlay and told them to approach Vaughn's coach (Kaffey) with a position as an assistant and to convince Vaughn to come along. Vaughn's coach tells him that he's going to Findlay and that he should along to prepare for the next level and get away from Minnesota. Then once Vaughn gets on campus at Findlay, the head coach and Kaffey do everything they can to steer him to UNLV.
Are they worse than us with Travis Reid? Are we really the ones to be throwing stones?
