UPDATED (10/19) Amelia reports no jail time for Trevor; 2 more yrs probation

Baby Mamma I hate that phrase. As for her tweets I agree garbage. I suppose being black is why he failed a breathalizer.

She probably doesn't realize that his status as a potential All-American and possible NBA future likely played in his favor today. If that were Joe Schmoe in front of a judge today, there wouldn't have been any leniancy.

Amelia tweet: "Mbakwe: "I've been thinking about this since July 1. It's been stressing me and my family out and I'm glad it's over." #Gophers"

"Mbakwe: "I'm just going to stay on the right track now; no more slip-ups. The judge gave me another chance and I'm grateful for that."

"Mbakwe of the hearing: "Yeah I was nervous. I was real nervous." #Gophers"

Go Gophers!!

Two more tweets from Amelia:

"Mbakwe: "Once we get through this, just move forward. Now it's just my job to fight for minutes, back to square one, showing and proving ..."

"... "I belong on the team and deserve minutes." (Mbakwe) #Gophers"

Go Gophers!!

Trevor now officially has millions of dollars and almost certain jail time riding on his ability to keep from screwing up for the next (5-6) months. If that can't motivate him to be a choir boy, nothing will.

Amen to that. I hope Trevor gets help for whatever he needs help with, but along with that. ... shape up or ship out. Enough of this crap. Over the final 5+ months of his Gopher career he needs to represent the Gopher program like it actually means something to him. As someone else pointed out, he's certainly had many people from the U (including his coach) go to bat for him (on multiple occasions). It's time to recriprocate.

Let's play basketball.

Amelia tweet: "Mbakwe: "I'm just going to show everybody they were right in supporting me." Said he's been in contact w/ coaches the whole time. #Gophers"

Go Gophers!!

Another classy tweet from our friend Pat:

@1500ESPN_Reusse: No jail time for Mbakwe. Now, all he has to worry about is depression & alcoholism that his attorney announced today.

Since Reusse is a recovering alcoholic himself,he probably shouldn't be throwing stones

Amelia Rayno ‏@AmeliaRayno
Samms, Mbakwe's attorney was emotional during the hearing, shedding some tears in court & then again when he went outside. #Gophers

Amelia just kicking butt with coverage. Kudos to her. Someone get that lady a drink.

GW- "1st day of practice.. guess it's time for another Uh Oh.. more major drama for #Gophers? Hope it's cleared up quickly, but... yikes."

Thank goodness Jesse got his wish and it was cleared up quickly!

I bet he's jumping for joy!

trevor is a Long way from earning millions playing hoops

He needs a solid season free from trouble. To NBA scouts, all he has to do is show that he has recovered from his knee surgery to lock in to the first round and guaranteed money.

Rodney has a little more work to do but he has a great shot as well.

Amelia tweets:

"Samms: "The judge made the right decision, It's just a shame we even had to go through this." #Gophers"

"The University said yesterday if Mbakwe did not get jail time, his status would remain unchanged. #Gophers"

"Samms said he's fine with the 2 yrs probation. "He can get on with life now. There is a path for him." #Gophers"

"University said as of right now, there will be no statement on Mbakwe decision from coach Tubby Smith. Will update if that changes. #Gophers"

Go Gophers!!

Who runs the GH Twitter account? Why do they do the old RT instead of using the Re-Tweet feature? It's annoying reading people's tweets twice if you follow both parties.

After GW heard the ruling,Trevor probably isn't the only person battling depression.

I assume Nadine since she frequently retweets the GH retweet from her personal account almost immediately. That makes 3 versions, but it doesn't bother me.

Yeah, I guess I haven't noticed it much before. Just with the quantity of Rayno's tweets today, it was a little odd seeing them repeated twice.

D'okay.

Actions speak louder than words. Do it. Despite embarassing us with this nonsense, you have a coach who cares enough about you to keep you around. Take advantage of this opportunity, don't screw up, and give us your all this season.

Also, per the earlier tweet mentioned, this is not what he gets for being black in America, this is what he gets for getting behind the wheel of a car and endangering the life of everyone on the road.

I think Mbakwe can thank Kill and Teague for taking all of the the media attention this week and not letting all of the anti-athletics at the U people run with this story. The outcome may have been different.

I wonder how he'd be received in a city that doesn't have an infatuation for spitting on the local university.

If anyone catches what he says on his radio show about him Today please post it here. I'm not in a location where I can listen.

Reading how GW is currently acting on twitter makes me think he really does deserve that ban. I do/did value his opinions on things and his knowledge of college basketball and the NCAA rule books, but at this point he is just becoming a bully. He isn't a reporter and he isn't a "blogger" he is just some guy who loves attention and will stick it to whoever he needs to in order to get it. His personal vendeta against Trevor and now his family is just plain disgusting.

Mbakwe OWNS him. He owns his mind. It's that simple. He can't go a moment without fantasizing about Mbakwe. Quite an unhealthy pantherhawk-esque obsession.

So what is this I read about settling a civil suit and paying the victim restitution for a broken cheek bone???

Reading how GW is currently acting on twitter makes me think he really does deserve that ban.

If you look at his account he was posting today and other times recently. He is not banned, it appears he lost his staff privilege and took his crusade on Tubby, Kill, Teague, Mbakwe, etc. elsewhere.

I disagree. He spends 30 seconds a minute thinking about Mbakwe, and the other 30 thinking about Crean.

Gary Parrish:

So Mbakwe is fortunate.

Again.

But forgive me if I'm not convinced when I hear him suggest there will be "no more slip-ups" because all the guy seems to do besides record double-doubles is "slip-up." He "slipped-up" in junior college. He's "slipped-up" multiple times at Minnesota. Judge Fernandez told Mbakwe, among other things, on Friday that he doesn't "have nine lives like a cat," which may or may not be true. But there's no denying at this point that he's a Gopher who sure is getting chance after chance after chance.

Go Gophers!!

i guess trevor's baby mamma tweeted this << It's so horrible. Taking out loans for attorneys. 4 years of fighting the same case. To be a Black man in America... This is what you get. <<

This statement is appalling for two reasons. First of all, it is this type of attitude and the failure to claim responsibility and grow that has led this young man to where he is today. 2nd, it is an insult to black americans who truly have been victims in this country. Trevor Mbakwe is not one of those.
