Seems like there is no end to the amount of adulation they require. In the end just make your damn decision within your family and send out an email or whatever to the media. Is there any benefit or belief that maybe Pitino is urging top recruits to keep Minnesota on their final list even if they've already been unofficially eliminated? Could this help future recruiting in the years down the road?

I don't think there is or ever will be a correlation, but maybe an out of the box idea from Pitino to be relevant for future top recruits...??

Whatever man, if he were choosing the Gophers you wouldn't say he's an attention whore. Was Marqueis Gray an attention whore when he announced at the All-Star game? You just sound really petty.
 



Don't lock the thread yet....many of you still need the time to trash the 17 year old kid for deciding on which college he wanted to go to.

I think announcing at a football game is completely different. At least Gray didn't set up a separate event to announce his decision. Gray's decision also wasn't streamed on ESPNU. Apples and Oranges.
 

Playing for one of the greatest coaches of all time at a perennial top 5-10 school with an insane basketball tradition vs playing at home for a school with a brand new coach whose claim to fame is being the offspring of a great coach.

are people really angry that Jones made the correct decision for himself and his goals? I guess one shouldn't be surprised at this, but it's always sad to read.

Gray also wasn't the #4 recruit in the nation, signing as a package deal with the #1 recruit in the nation. And since when was ESPN3 and a live stream on Kare11.com a huge event? Apples and oranges indeed.

Perhaps you're right but let's say Jarvis holds a similar event next year and picks Minnesota. Would he then be considered an attention whore?

If someone ever picks the Gophers at one of these things, it still means they are an attention whore. Just our attention whore. Not sure why telling it like it is makes me petty. We've all known this guy was gone for the better part of a year. This is no surprise.
