Transfer list possibilities, Spring 2020

Supply and demand. The supply of family and player you are describing is declining. Of course, those who can still do it will succeed with it, but fewer and fewer can use it, because of the changing landscape. There were over 700 players who put themselves into the portal this year. That's not changing anytime soon, making "experienced rosters" more and more difficult to assemble.
I am actually seeing more of those kids and families by recruiting the high schools more. Being in relationships with the right high school coaches and some AAU guys that love what you teach and call you with fits.

One of the programs I really enjoy watching is BYU because they are a team full of white guys that can shoot (hey, I'm not afraid to admit it) and they are NOT Wisconsin.

What I always admired about Dave Rose was how he could piece together his roster year after year knowing he was going to lose a couple kids to their missions but then get them back in two years. I also really liked that it was two high schools basically pumping three kids in each year.

Honestly, it would be interesting to see Bennett with a Calipari roster to see what happens.
Would love it but the best that will happen is the home and home that they will do in 2021 and 2022. Cal is slick but not stupid. He knows what happened to his best team ever to a team of experienced , well trained guys. Obviously the better the talent the better the chances but your not going to beat them the way they built their program so you have to look at another way to be competitive.

He has done a great job. Again, he knew who he was and who they were.

Perez looks like an excellent pick up....Scored 20 points on 11 shots as a freshman in NCAA Tourney upset of Number 1 rated Virginia coached by basketball"Genius" Tony Bennett.

1. He was never at UMBC.
2. Do you not like Tony Bennett? I don't know how someone can watch basketball and not appreciate how good of a coach Bennett is.

Are we in another post-miss malaise? Who’s the next prospect up? Can we land Peterson? Would he get a waiver to play immediately? Are there other possible players we’re considering?
I think the grad transfer route would be more ideal just to know you're gettin' em in right away for sure. Seems like it would be worse odds for Peterson to play if Robbins got his waiver. Can't imagine they like giving out 2.

El-Amin is still in play from Ball State. He's a grad transfer. Antonio from UNLV also a GT. Then the others I've heard connected to us are Peterson (Rice) and Perez (Gardner Webb). I think those 2 guys are juniors this coming year and would require a waiver. I could be wrong on eligibility for those guys.

I'm not sure when the deadline is for kids to enter the portal but I assume that NCAA vote for immediate eligibility will have an impact on more kids entering. You might find more talented kids that aren't in yet.

But give Tubby Pitino's roster and he wins a national championship!
Or in the national championship game tubby calls a timeout down 2 right when marcus carr is about to shoot, the ball goes in doesnt count and we settle for a wild shot off a timeout because the d read tubby's play.

Oh those four (assuming the transfer no sit out rule passes)what is your preference 1 to 4?

1. Peterson
2.
3.
4.
Agree. Kid can flat out play, just needs to put on about 15 lbs of muscle. I would be okay with him redshirting to do so but obviously Pitino is fighting for his job this season... might just need Peterson's 15 minutes/game as is.

Why do people prefer Peter to Ishmael El Anim? He has better stats at about the same level of competition, is local (which seems to be a big deal on this board), and I think I saw he would be a grad transfer with immediate eligibility, which would also allow us to roll an extra scholarship over to next year.

Peterson is 6-8 compared to 6-1. Peterson is a year younger and averages more rebounds and assists.

El-Amin would fill the Hopkins void at least.

But Peterson is a much more intriguing player that seems to do more things well. I like El-Amin but he is playing at the correct level.

What I said about recruiting. Forget it! Welcome Mr Peterson. Now let’s make transfers eligible immediately!

CBS: Ranking college basketball's top 10 transfers of the 2020 recruiting cycle

4. Liam Robbins
Old school
: Drake | New school: Minnesota

Robbins needed a year at prep school to lose weight and attract college interest after high school, but his rise has been meteoric since he got on the right track. The 7-footer will now get to test his game in the sport's toughest league after a breakout sophomore season in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Iowa native averaged 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.9 blocks this season. If his game continues progressing on its current trajectory, he'll be a force in the Big Ten in his remaining two seasons of eligibility.

Go Gophers!!

Too late on the answer here. Peterson it is. I actually like El-Amin's game. I thought he could have a nice little impact for a year but Peterson seems like he's the highest ranked of that list.

I'm good (y) Hopefully he gets that waiver

A stud just entered the transfer portal. Too bad Gophers don't have another scholarship available to go after Javon Freeman-Liberty, Marcus Liberty's nephew. Somebody's gonna' get a really good player.

Illinois seems logical if Fighting Illini have a scholarship available.

19 points on 16 shots per game at the mid major level is not really good... Impressive on steals and rebounding.

Tony Bennett is the best college men's basketball coach that has ever walked the face of the earth.

And here I thought we could finally put this thread and the 2020 recruiting thread to bed...sigh...who is leaving now?

Things will be fluid for most programs. Plus, heard from is miles from a offer.

Pure speculation, but I can easily see at least Greenlee and maybe Freeman seeing not much room for significant playing time the next couple years.
