If Coyle is allowed to hire based on merit, I'm sure he'll do fine. But does he have the skills to blow Coyle away during the interview?

I would absolutely love if Will Wade was our next coach. I just don't think the U will have the stomach to go for that.Give me a break....he was a candidate four years ago because he's "one of us"....nobody in P4 was looking to hire him four years ago. I hope I'm wrong.
What Wade has done at McNeese is ridiculous. Probably one of he worst programs in country when he took the job (I know I know it was his own fault), but his squad this year would've run the Gophers off the court IMO.
Good Lord, give it a break. The guy is toxic to programs.Give me a break....he was a candidate four years ago because he's "one of us"....nobody in P4 was looking to hire him four years ago. I hope I'm wrong.

I like Tauer more than just about anyone on here but Dutcher had a lot more proven resume. He was then what Johnny Tauer is now. Some folks just can't see it.
The dark cloud over Minnesota's head is that, at least according to the narrative, we can't win without cheating. Hiring Wade and winning would not disspell that narrative. There would always be the suspicion. We would not have gotten out from under that.I would absolutely love if Will Wade was our next coach. As far as the "one of us" discussion, I often think it's less that we hire them because they are us and more they'd consider us because they are us.
Yeah, but it feels like we are in a post-cheating world and the people who care about that narrative aren't people whose opinions I care about. The dark cloud over Minnesota's head is that, at least according to the narrative, we can't win without cheating. McNeese State:Good Lord, give it a break. The guy is toxic to programs.
He had proven that he doesn't just bend the rules.Yeah, but it feels like we are in a post-cheating world and the people who care about that narrative aren't people whose opinions I care about.
I just want us to hire the best coach we can and bend every rule every other program bends and win basketball games. I used to not feel this way at all about college sports, but it's changed for me.
Good for youMcNeese State:
2022-2023---Pre-Wade 11-23
2033-2024---Will Wade 22-2
2024-2025---Will Wade 27-6
I'm betting McNeese hates the toxicity of that 49-8 record in two years.
Yeah, but the rules have changed. He had proven that he doesn't just bend the rules.
Who the hell cares what others think? I don't. You think the teams coached by Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson, Bill Self, etc etc etc care about the narrative. Frankly, I'd love to be good enough that people were thinking we might be cheating.....The dark cloud over Minnesota's head is that, at least according to the narrative, we can't win without cheating. Hiring Wade and winning would not disspell that narrative. There would always be the suspicion. We would not have gotten out from under that.
Nice comeback....well thought out and filled with facts. Good for you.Good for you
I'd put the banner back up tomorrow as a middle finger to the NCAA.You're right, it isn't gonna happen.
But it should.
Wade is the exact guy this program needs.
Start the process of thumbing your nose at the NCAA, for one thing. Like the serious programs have done for decades now.
What has trying to be "clean" gotten us?
Passing and cutting? What's that?I don't know. I have mixed feelings. I watched the second half of the Colorado State game and I didn't see a single shot clock violation. Ben's teams could get three of those in a half! Also, there was too much quick passing and cutting in the half-court and not nearly enough dribbling around the perimeter.
Seriously, though, the one possible piece of bad news is that Niko's price may go up.
Hopefully your wife wasn't saying the same thing.I was just saying this to my wife this evening. Niko has never been hotter than he is right now. He's a fucking shooting star at the moment.
Their resumes aren’t even close to similar.Medved=Monson
Good lord, give it a break. He fucking wins.Good Lord, give it a break. The guy is toxic to programs.
She was like, who??Hopefully your wife wasn't saying the same thing.
Announcers know all, of course. The announcer just said Colorado State has one of the best half court offenses in the country… sign me up.
Welcome to the dark side! (we have cookies!)Yeah, but it feels like we are in a post-cheating world and the people who care about that narrative aren't people whose opinions I care about.
