Temple's Anthony Lee transferring elsewhere for final season

Just came across this....

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...y-lee-transferring-elsewhere-for-final-season

Lee would fill a major hole and give Josh Martin a year to develop. Any chance Pitino makes a run at him?

If Pitino thinks he would improve the team then he'll make a run at him. Would be nice to bring in a veteran PF like this. But right now our Senior class for next year is already pretty heavy. But I dont see why that would matter if he can play.

I'd definitely bring him in. It would allow King and Buggs to get some time at SF.

We can offer him a starting job and 35 minutes a game in a premiere conference. Pretty appealing.

King play SF? No way. No chance. He's a backup PF, that's it. Unless a juco or graduate transfer comes in at PF, Martin will be the starting PF next year.

Now Buggs on the otherhand, his best position will hopefully be SF.

Not true. Well maybe true in the same sense that Andre Hollins isn't a point guard.... SF is going to be next years PF where we just don't have a solid option unless Carlos Morris impresses the hell out of us. We are going to throw a whole lot of bodies at that position and see what sticks.

Joey can play SF in that he can hit an outside jumper, and he can play the wing on defense in a 2-3. I fully expect him to get SOME minutes at the "3" with a Mo/EE and a Martin on the floor with him.

Yep.

lee re-tweeted gh's tweet, so at least we know he has heard of the gophers!

And we'd probably be a tournament team with him.

If we dont suffer any injuries I think we would be. What this team needs is somebody to consistently hit the 10-15 foot jump shot and have another scorer inside other then Walker.

One thing I've learned over the years is that true Freshmen are rarely better than the experienced, upper-classman ahead of them.

Cool!

Couldn't agree more. King's 3rd year, or Lee's graduate year would likely be more ready than Martin. At least in the beginning of the year.

I can't imagine a better opportunity for a one year player. He would have virtually zero risk of getting stuck on the bench, get maximalexposure playing in the Big Ten, and have an excellent shot at playing in the NCAA Tournament.

He could definitly be a 32mpg, 15pts & 10rbs guy for us if he came here. Problem is he will have a lot of options.

From everything I've read, he seems like a good guy too. Pitino needs to get on this now!

I think a lot of us thought that about Tarik Black from Memphis last year and he never gave us a sniff before he went to Kansas. A year in the saddle and Richard has a bit more to sell. I like the idea of him coming here, but this whole system smells of a "rich get richer" scheme while trolling for smaller schools players.

Sounds like a perfect fit. I'm sure he's already on the coaching staff's radar. Graduate transfers are becoming more and more popular so I'd expect more options to pop up soon.

There are 300+ teams that could use a senior PF next year. Lets not fall in love on day one of the transfer process.

Agreed. You can tell just by watching him that he would be more comfortable at the small forward role. Maybe the prior poster feels that because he doesn't seem to have what it takes to be an elite small forward, he should play power forward, but not having the tools to be elite at one position doesn't indicate that one would be better off playing a different role. We know that he doesn't have what it takes to be a upper level Big Ten power forward.

Agreed. These fifth year transfers are like gold and everybody wants them. Very few of them have the kind of numbers this kid has so he will be chased by all sorts of good programs. Temple may not be what it once was but it still plays good competition. This kid probably will be similar to last spring's Josh Davis who transferred from Tulane to San Diego State but had multiple elite offers. I guess we can offer the high probability of him playing starting minutes right away but we can't guarantee him as high of a probability of post season advancement as quite a few other teams.

The fact he retweeted GH's tweet is a good sign that he'd at least entertain Pitino's sales pitch. That is all we can ask for.

There are connections, Pitino and Mchale (seton hall).

Not disagreeing, but there were similar connections to a number of players last year that didn't pan out. Pitino has connections everywhere, he's not unique in that respect, however.

I'm not saying we wont get him, but I am saying that just because he knows who we are, we have a need, and Pitino has a connection means we get the guy. He's going to pick where he wants to go... Ball is in his court.

Never said he was coming here. Just saying that there is a relationship. Sure as heck beats not having one.
