When are these announced? Do we need to wait until after the conference title games?

Nothing will be official until next Sunday. But I imagine it’ll leak with all but certainty by the middle of the week because the big ten getting 4 in the playoff isn’t really in doubt

Opponents won’t leak though because the ACc and SEC number of teams in playoff is sort of in flux still

I refuse to let my mind wander to the Gophs in the Pinstripe bowl. They were just there two years ago. I believe the BG10 has an intended goal for the non-elite bowls of 5 different teams in a 6-year period which would hopefully keep the Gophs out of the cold.

Um, say what? You need a new tour book. Not to mention a bowl game with zero chance of an ice storm.
I’ve only been to Tampa once and will not go back
Been to Nashville a few times and will go back

PJ fleck has beaten every non conference team he has ever played except North Carolina ( at Minnesota)

Bowling green avenged

So maybe we get UNC in mayo bowl?
UNC revenge game! How do you like Max after he's had time to adjust to the P4!

Tampa and Nashville are both super fun travel destinations.

Tampa easily takes the cake in this argument considering the far superior bowl game and the weather factor.

I want Bama. Anyone else?
My first reaction to this was NOO!

Now, that I've had a chance to think about it YESSSS! No one would give us a chance, but I thought Wisconsin had Alabama on their heals that first drive before their starting QB, Tyler Van Dyke, went down. As we saw in person, Wisconsin's backup was not good!

I’m not convinced it’s a far superior bowl game. New Year’s Eve?

It certainly used to be. Now it’s just marginally better

Maybe not, but the correlation with team ranking is pretty evident.
How do you know? We have never seen how they do selection in this era?
If Michigan jumps Iowa, your premise is false

I'd rather visit Nashville even if it's chilly. Been to Tampa many times and it's pretty blah.

Blah if you don't like great weather, beaches, bomb Cuban food, fun downtown bar scene etc (and epic strip clubs if that's your jam).

Nashville has kinda jumped the shark for me, it's similar to Austin. Exploded population wise, traffic issues, annoying bachelorette parties everywhere you go (albeit great scenery). Lost a little of what made it great in the first place. But still a very fun destination.

(BOTH CITIES ARE SUPER FUN WOULD LOVE TO PARTY AND GO BOWLING IN EITHER TBH)

I said correlation, and there are two teams in bowl games.

I thought this a while ago, and I would totally be down with seeing how we'd do against them now.

Would guess with brown not coaching the game their RB will opt out

And they’ll either be awful or play really well. No middle in those situations usually

Yeah. And other than citrus the big ten openly says there isn’t a pecking order
They may say it, but generally there has been a pecking order, keeping any bowl specific guidelines in mind. Gets a little muddled when you have a bunch with the same or similar records.

Sounds like Wisconsin is playing in the Cancun Bowl. Enjoy the vacation fellas (not)!

In reading past years' bowl selection writeups for the BG10, the conference groups teams by similar rankings and records which usually means 1 game +/- cushion in overall record; meaning an 8-4 team could jump a 9-3 team for a higher rated bowl. Bowls don't care about conference seeding criteria like conference record or head to head results. This is how a 7-5 (4-5 BG10) Penn State jumped the 8-4 (6-3 BG10) Gophers in 2021 for the Outback Bowl. The BG10 tries not to allow a 2-game spread in bowl rating selection.

I wonder how much player announcements on bowl participation might impact selections. E.g., could Brosmer announcing he'll play in the bowl give the Gophs a better chance over team that has a top player skipping the bowl?

There has been a pecking order
It’s less and less every year

Now that Reliaquest isn’t a New Year’s Day I’m curious what they do
