So what’s next? What Bowl Game we thinking?

I saw a projection this morning, showing that we would play Syracuse in Charlotte. I'm fine with the Mayo but please not Syracuse. I didn't look it up but it seems like we play them about once every other year. I'd just like someone new. As others have said... LSU in the Music City Bowl would be awesome.

No!!! Even Duke would be much better. At least we've never played them before.

Detroit is officially out
Assuming big ten gets 4 in playoff, not enough teams to fill out Detroit bowl

I know it seems that way but they’ve only played 6 times in history. If they met it would be the second time in 11 years.

Let's have a GT rematch in Charlotte. That game in 2018 was Mo's coming out party and who could forget Big Dan's pancake for the ages...

Rutgers (4-5) finished below the Gophers (5-4) in the Big Ten though.
I think the Big Ten considers these games as exhibitions with two main goals for the conference: look good on TV (ratings) and win games (especially against the SEC).

I think whichever of the two programs it feels will best satisfy those goals, is who will get to go to the Mayo.

5th time in 15 years

5th time in 15 years

That doesn’t disagree with anything I said.
But yes. 7th time in my lifetime if it happened. And the gophers have only played Rutgers 4 times.
Have only played Indiana 3 times since 2009

So it does seem like a lot. But it isn’t close to every other year.

I’m sure Cuse would not be too happy with that either. With the Miami win they might be playing on NYD.

There is no such thing as New Year’s Day anymore
There are 3 games and they are all quarterfinals

My bad. Meant a better bowl and had not looked at the schedule
The problem is I don’t know what is “better” anymore

For big ten
Citrus is better by name and history
At this point other than citrus they’re all kind of the same. Matchup and opponent and timeslot probably means more than pecking order

Is Reliaquest really better than Nashville?
Tampa isn’t as fun to visit
Both getting SEC matchup.
Tampa at noon on a Tuesday on NYE
Nashville at 2:30’on a Monday with New Year’s Eve the following

I think Nashville is better travel situation than Reliaquest. But Reliaquest used to be on New Year’s Eve.

Mayo sucks if your PTO situation doesn’t give you Thursday and Friday off.
New York on the 28 is easy for me to go to

You’re probably right. What are the potential Syracuse bowl tie ins?

Gophers have shown out pretty well outside of the Rutgers game. I'd be disappointed if they were placed ahead of the Gophers.

Yeah.....pass on Syracuse. Plenty of other teams in the NCAA.

We had the home and home against Cuse in 09 and 12. Plus bowl game matchups in 13 and 22.

Charlotte would be great but please anybody but Syracuse. Nothing against them but it's old hat and would love a fresh program to play against.

Reliaquest actually used to be New Years Day. Goph's beat Auburn there New Years Day in 2019 season. I know as I was there. Think it was Capital One then.

Would be boring for sure.
For some reason the following possible matchups don’t appeal to me at all:
Syracuse
Duke
Anyone in the big 12
Florida or anyone 6-6 in the SEC

Correct. That’s kind of my question. Is it still better than the mayo and Nashville just because it used to be on New Year’s Day? Or all they all about the same now?

Duke would be a fun atmosphere as I assume they would travel well over to Charlotte.

Yea, good point. Not sure.

247 has us taking a disgusting Mayo bath against Syracuse

It was the Outback Bowl. Definitely more prestigious than the Music City or Mayo Bowl. Typically play a higher ranked SEC team than in the Music City Bowl.
