So what’s next? What Bowl Game we thinking?

In reading past years' bowl selection writeups for the BG10, the conference groups teams by similar rankings and records which usually means 1 game +/- cushion in overall record; meaning an 8-4 team could jump a 9-3 team for a higher rated bowl. Bowls don't care about conference seeding criteria like conference record or head to head results. This is how a 7-5 (4-5 BG10) Penn State jumped the 8-4 (6-3 BG10) Gophers in 2021 for the Outback Bowl. The BG10 tries not to allow a 2-game spread in bowl rating selection.

I wonder how much player announcements on bowl participation might impact selections. E.g., could Brosmer announcing he'll play in the bowl give the Gophs a better chance over team that has a top player skipping the bowl?
I too am curious
Iowa obviously should go ahead of Minnesota but if their RB isn’t playing and our QB is I wonder if they may take that into account.

I think Iowa for sure gets passed by Michigan. Maybe some others

Yeah, Iowa won't have almost half their regular season offense in the bowl. One would think that might impact things?

Assuming the BG10 is locked into the Pinstripe, I wouldn't be surprised if Iowa gets slotted in there. Same as they did for MN with an 8-4 record in 2022. It shouldn't be MN or Rutgers as those have been the past two participants.

If so, that puts MI, MN and Rutgers in the Reliaquest, Duke's, Music City mix.

Iowa in pinstripe would be good for their chances of winning

Cold weather
Below average surface

Sounds like a 5-4 kind of win to me

Think and hope Nebby goes to New York.

I totally forgot about Nebraska. They should be in the Rate or Pinstripe, but the hungry fanbase might make them more attractive to a higher bowl.

McMurphy puts us in the Music City Bowl and sends Michigan to the Pinstripe Bowl

Would like that. My 1st choice is one of the Florida bowls as I live down here, but Music City against LSU would be right up there.

Everything that makes Nebraska attractive to the Pinstripe bowl ... makes them attractive to every bowl ;)

Yeah with kids I'd rather go someplace with beaches.

I don't mind the Music City bowl, but most folks talk about Nashville ... they're not talking about traveling with family, most folks talking about trolling through bars ... and my 8 year old is a mean drunk.

Is it really a bad thing for Iowa to lose half their offense?

For sure if it's a family trip I'd take Florida. But we'd probably end up at the theme parks and not the beach.

If it's me and some buddies then Nashville for sure.

Reality is I can't ever go to bowl games because we typically already have a family vacation that's been planned months in advance.

There is a plethora of family fun items to do in Nashville (and the vicinity) depending on what you like. Obviously many music centered options and museums, etc. but also Civil war sites, zoo's, science museums, Opry show, state parks/outdoors, state capital mall, performance theaters, and the standard tourist attractions. No need to stay downtown if you're not planning a stint on Broadway (but some places do allow kids during the day for lunch for that experience). Weather could be iffy, could be anywhere from 70 to 20 degrees.

Blah if you don't like great weather, beaches, bomb Cuban food, fun downtown bar scene etc (and epic strip clubs if that's your jam).

Nashville has kinda jumped the shark for me, it's similar to Austin. Exploded population wise, traffic issues, annoying bachelorette parties everywhere you go (albeit great scenery). Lost a little of what made it great in the first place. But still a very fun destination.

(BOTH CITIES ARE SUPER FUN WOULD LOVE TO PARTY AND GO BOWLING IN EITHER TBH)

I lived near Nashville around the turn of the century and I've been back a few times in the last 10 years. I agree with that. I think it did blow up enough that its more crowded, more developed, and a little less fun but still fun. I've been to the Tampa St. Petersburg area three times within the last 10 years and I always enjoyed it. I've never been to Tampa St. Pete at the end of the December but I have been to Nashville then and it can be cold at that time.
