So what’s next? What Bowl Game we thinking?

With mammoth conferences, maybe that will be a thing in the future.

If teams from the same conference haven't played already in the regular season, I say why not?!?
Agree but more likely to see Washington than Nebraska this year

Some wrenches could still be thrown in the mix tomorrow, but Nebraska losing tonight all but seals up Iowa to Tampa IMO. They’ve not played there for a long while and finished 8-4 (6-3). Still looking like Nashville or Mayo for Minnesota. I think Nebraska will get shipped to Phoenix with that 3-6 conference record. I’m going out on a limb and predicting MN to Nashville. Rutgers proximity to Mayo and Michigan playing in NYC makes too much sense. Always fun to speculate this time of year though!

It’s mayo of Orlando

Orlando only in play if northwestern beats Illinois

I was thinking more in the future.

For example the Bowl at SoFi could in theory have both tie-ins from the same conference.

Pretty much guaranteed, the Bowl could get 2 teams from different regions, same conference that hadn't played each other in the regular season (or even perhaps the past couple of seasons...or ever).

Seems like a good gig

Do we need to worry about Michigan or Nebraska being picked above us for a bowl game due to their "stature"? Don't think Rutgers travels well and can see Pinstripe picking them due to local ties. If Michigan loses today, think we get Music City.

Thoughts?

I would love to see a game with a quality SEC opponent.

No because there is no such thing as getting kicked above anymore

But we do have to worry about them getting a more favorable location.
I honestly think pinstripe is worst game to watch due to cold weather conditions.
I think Arizona game is second worst due to timeslot

Other than that they’re all the same to me other than citrus and Reliaquest, which are slightly better
Even Detroit I prefer to watch the game if you get the ACC opponent, if you get the mac that’s not as fun.

I didn't know that. I would think that is good. If both Michigan and Washinton lose today, which they should, we are solo 7th in conference.

Assuming Ohio State and Oregon are in playoffs no matter what, and PSU and Indiana take care of business today, BIG will have 4 teams in playoffs and we should then be 3rd choice after Iowa and IL.

Yes. Washington not competing with us for bowl spots

If Illinois loses today the gophers are in a 2-4 way tie for 6th with a win against Illinois.
If Ohio state beats Michigan and Oregon beats Washington…gophers pretty clearly 6th in big ten. That’s what I’m hoping for.

Northwestern beating Illinois is very unlikely though.

Especially since Nebraska hasn’t been in a bowl in forever. Guaranteed great ticket sales for the legions of Husker fans desperate to see any bowl.
I agree Michigan and Nebraska might be more favorable picks than Mn

But there isn’t a drafter order anymore.
So Michigan being the more favorable draw than Minnesota might put them in New York City if the big ten feels they owe the pinstripe bowl a brand

Unlikely for sure, but would love it as I think Citrus would take us over IL.

That is also my hope.
I think in that case the citrus may just bite the bullet and take Iowa another time

Who gets all of the PAC 12’s bowls?

the former PAC-12 teams will be placed in bowls that have (had) a PAC-12 tie-in. So USC and Washington will go to PAC-12 bowls - not B1G Bowls. same for former PAC-12 teams that moved to the Big 12. (unless those teams make the CFP field like Oregon)

I think Iowa goes to Tampa for Outback but may be wrong.
It my understanding that the only bowl who gets a “pick” is citrus

Iowa is the clear pick. But because they had Iowa last year the conventional wisdom was Iowa would fall to Reliaquest and someone else to citrus

But I imagine there is a certain point they might rather have Iowa (8-4 6-3) over Minnesota (7-5 5-4) or Illinois (8-4 5-4)

I am guessing they take Illinois regardless of today’s result. But if northwestern beats Illinois and puts Illinois at 8-4 instead of 9-3 there will be some debate I’m sure due to the gophers win over Illinois and same conference record

Iowa laid a big fat goose egg in last year’s Citrus Bowl and that game last night against Nebby was about as sexy as Jocelyn Wildenstein is today. How could any bowl want that - aren’t the TV eyes as important as the traveling fan base? Who other than Ioweigens or those who HATE Iowa would watch their game?

Didn't the Big Ten put out a Bowl Selection document each year? Maybe they gave up
