Shooter: A top candidate was interviewed Wed. in Minn, deal could be announced soon

Buzz Williams to Minnesota is as likely as Jimmy Williams.

I'll give out generous odds for those who would like to bet. PM with offers.

GW's alllegiances come out pretty strongly when the honor of his true love is questioned. Tubby isn't the only one who should go out with the housecleaning.

Let's say Richmond_Insider is accurate about Anthony Grant interviewing tomorrow. Who would the candidate that interviewed today be?

Flip would be my first thought but I don't know if he was in town today.

Will for sure cheer for him, BUT, The offensive numbers and the SEC record do nothing for me. Hopefully I am not seeing it clearly since this is who I expected when they started tossing names and backgrounds around. Time line would work though. Same could be said for Stevens (what is our connection in the AD office there?)

OK coach is not the answer. I've had way too much of boring, unimaginative offenses. I'm sure the Gopher clan would concur.

Then it doesn't make any sense at all for Shaka to NOT upgrade to Minnesota, but he didn't. Think about what you're saying.

Buzz might not be enjoying his boss right now from what I hear, and that's a big deal to anyone in any line of work. When I listened to Norwood interview Buzz on the radio a couple weeks ago, there was a real affection there. You could sense a special relationship.

Buzz may be the guy!

Not off the necessarily off the grid because he's connected to the Ville 7 but what about Chris Mack at Xavier?

If Buzz Williams comes here, will you become a Gopher fan?

If Zeus leaves Mount Olympus to coach the Gophers and brings Poseidon, Athena & Apollo along to join his staff, will you become a Greek mythology fan?

The likelihood of each of these two scenarios is approximately the same. That's the point. It has nothing to do with me.

Something like a 2% chance??

NO:
Marshall - still playing
Bennett - just stopped today
Flip - in Chicago, easily could have interviewed this morning before leaving
Buzz - still playing
Grant - if anyone interviewed today, it was probably him

My guess, Chris Mack (Xavier).

We could do a lot worse than Chris Mack.

Zeus left Mount Olympus all the time, but it was usually to knock up mere mortals.

I'm already a fan of greek mythology.

Jim Souhan vehemently disagrees.

I'd take Grant over Mack no question.

This implies I'm not already a Greek Mythology fan. But in all seriousness, I'd say there's about a 2% chance I would.

Anybody but Grant!!! Well maybe not anybody but Most anybody but Grant!
Season tickets since 1972 and this would be the most uninspiring hire since then.

Greek Mythology IS A MYTH. Greek mythology stole all of its stuff from the Babylonians.

So I would not become a fan of Greek mythology if Zeus coached the Gophers to 10 straight Natl Titles.

As for Buzz Williams? Not sure why he'd want to switch from where he is at to come to Minnesota?!

Nothing for him to gain by making the move, too much to lose.

It's all a myth, most of which is based off of myths and legends about celestial entities through folklore before agriculture and thus pre-Babylonian.

I wonder why Souhan would even have a strong opinion on Chris Mack?

Not sure how serious you are but wasn't it Souhan who bashed and berated Xavier a few years back right before the Gophers matched up with them in the tournament? Pretty much said there's no way the Gophers should lose to them, right before they did. Not even sure Mack was the coach of that Xavier team? Too lazy to look it up

Awesome stuff, Jim

Yep, that was him.

Souhan is an absolute idiot and his beef with Mack is perfect.

One concern for me about Chris Mack is recruiting. His best success came with players he inherited from Sean Miller.

The concern with Shaka Smart is that he had his best success with Anthony Grant's players. The concern with Anthony Grant is that he had his best success with Jeff Capel's players...and so on.

Capel never coached at Bama he was at OU...Gottfried preceded Grant at Bama
