Shooter: A top candidate was interviewed Wed. in Minn, deal could be announced soon

No photos of Brad Stevens in the Butler cafeteria have surfaced. It's a sign!

Can he stop saying a "little birdie" in every story he writes?

DON'T PRINT THAT

A little birdie says a top Gophers men's basketball coaching candidate was interviewed in Minnesota on Wednesday, and a contract announcement should be soon.

Just wait until Flip catches his flight home after the Chicago/Miami game and someone tweets a pic of him at the airport.

He probably inherited that from former PiPress sports columnist the late Don Riley who used that periodically. Perhaps it's an homage.

I am watching for possible candidates flying thru Fargo.

Same here. I almost want anyone but him at this point. Would at least give him a chance though.

Will for sure cheer for him, BUT, The offensive numbers and the SEC record do nothing for me. Hopefully I am not seeing it clearly since this is who I expected when they started tossing names and backgrounds around. Time line would work though. Same could be said for Stevens (what is our connection in the AD office there?)

Grant would seem like bizarre hire, but I'm afraid that could be our guy.

Season ended last night, basketball coach at a university where football is king, chance to reunite with the guy that gave him his first head coaching gig?

please don't tell me you have a source.

Well the run,gun and press ADHD crowd might be bored with Butler Ball at the U. Tyus and Vaughn would likely pass as the style of play is not theirs. The last Bradley phenom crashed win he stepped up to the Big Ten at Iowa.

Don't let it be true.

I hope so!

He doesn't have a ton of ties to the midwest though, played college ball in Dayton, that's it.

The "run and gun ADHD crowd" just acknowledged that a lot of different systems can work. Most people who wanted Shaka would also love Stevens and you couldn't think of two more different coaches. It's not about style, it's about getting the most out of your team.
