SDSU just made it harder to bring recruits to the u.

U of Washington coach Lorenzo Romar on Wolters "very impressive guard" They Beat PAC Ten Champ by 19 At Washington. NBA draft net projects him as a 2nd round pick. That projects him good enough to start for almost every team NCAA college team. ESPN John Hollinger player efficiency ratings has Nate rated the 20th most efficient player in the country. Tubby Smith on Nate "he really schooled us pretty good"CBS SportsLine top 25 preseason point guard. Unbiased experts or trolls THE SCOUT! sides with fellow experts on Wolters

Hey, minngg, where's this evidence of all these "NBA scouts and coaches" calling Wolters a "great player"? Can you link it for us?

Oh, wait...

Some people like to live in the past.

Some people like to converse with the dearly departed.

Nate wolters make AP ALL AMERICAN honorable mention along with harrison barnes and cody zeller No gophers selected. This objective source selected less than ten big ten players to the All American teams. therefore Nate would have no problem starting and excelling for gophs. Feast on this trolls

I take it that you also like to apply the transitive property when it comes to what teams have beaten what other teams?

THIS ISN'T THE ARGUMENT! IF NATE WOLTERS HAD ORIGINALLY GONE TO A BIG TEN SQUAD HE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE SAME DEVELOPMENT AS HE HAS EXPERIENCED

Wolters nice player for sdsu. Would play for gophers. Would not be a star in the big ten. Is NOT a pro player in the making.

nice player as in conference player of the year and AP all american will be a pro top tier euro league which contains many high major D1 all league players

I totally agree with the op. Recruiting is everything and as everyone knows it's hard to recruit to an urban campus and impossible to compete in a market with professional sports such as NFL, MLB and NBA. South Dakota is about as far away from that as possible. It's also important to understand the media types in South Dakota are much nicer people.

Why is it hard to recruit to an urban campus? Do you have any data to support this assertion?

I already know your earlier reference to Romar saying that he "hasn't seen a guard like him since Jason Kidd" is a bald-faced lie, so I wouldn't be surprised at all to discover that you're fabricating the rest out of whole cloth as well.

Sorry to bump a 6 month old thread. I'm a lifelong SDSU fan who is pretty excited for the Dec. 4 game with you guys and dying to talk basketball with someone... anyone...

I think Romar was slightly mis-quoted by the guys (minggg?) who were defending/praising Wolters. Washington Huskies coach Lorenzo Romar - "I haven't seen a performance like that since Jason Kidd was in the Pac-10" And he did it against two first round draft picks.

Skip to about 1:35 for the quote - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muRCKZBSGC0&feature=plcp I happen to think the whole press conference is interesting. :)

My only comments on the topic of Wolters/Gophers:

I think this whole conversation is kind of silly. Minnesota would have been digging pretty deep to let him walk on much less offer. There are DII and NAIA playes I wouldn't mind seeing at SDSU, but that doesn't mean I would be happy if we recruited them out of high school.

My personal opinion, although Wolters has the benefit of playing in a weaker Summit League, he also has the disadvantage of being the single focal point for every single defense he faces. If he was playing for the Gophers, opponents would still have to spend a decent amount of time going over Williams, Mbakwe, etc. With his abilities now (after playing a ton for 3 years at a mid/low-major), he could be even more impressive if he were playing in a major conference.

(ducks head)

I will put what you said into the category..."I guess we will never know."
