Yet another mid major from the neighborhood is going dancing! Why any kid that dreams of playing in the NCAA tournament would come to the University of Minnesota is beyond me!

dumbest original post ever.

how many recruits have the bison taken from us since their deep run in the tourney a few years back?

This is stupid. Like, really stupid.

I know what you mean, it's been an unheard of 2 years (!) since we've gone. But look on the bright side, at least Al Nolen, Kevin Payton, Travis Busch, Devoe Joseph, Jonathan Williams, Devoe Joseph, Devron Bostick, Lawrence Westbrook, Blake Hoffarber, Jamal Abu-Shamala, Damian Johnson, Colton Iverson, Ralph Sampson, Paul Carter, Justin Cobbs, and Rodney Williams got to see that dream come true.

SDSU is welcome to any recruits who would rather play at SDSU. First time I saw Wolters, probably not his best game, but I much prefer Hollins, Hollins, Coleman, Armelin and Welch.

This easily already wins stupidest thread of the month award.

I totally agree with the op. Recruiting is everything and as everyone knows it's hard to recruit to an urban campus and impossible to compete in a market with professional sports such as NFL, MLB and NBA. South Dakota is about as far away from that as possible. It's also important to understand the media types in South Dakota are much nicer people.

Good game. Wolters for the most part was completely shut done by Molinari's
defense. I thought the Leathernecks got hosed a couple of times by the officials late in the game,
but with the game in Sioux Falls you expect some HC. If Molinari would have won the ardent Tubby bashers would have been out in full force

Wait, I thought St. Thomas going D-1 was key to us turning in it around? This is so confusing. So many great minds here.

With the OP's logic, there are a lot of kids on North Dakota State's roster wondering where there NCAA Tournament is when they signed after the Bison's game in the dome against Kansas.

The difference is that SDSU is not in the Big Ten. I doubt many MN kids good enough to play in the BIG will choose SDSU just because they made the NCAA tourney.

Keep posting ZUB. Don't let the zings from all the brilliant minds on GH keep you away.

Be sure to let us know when a player with an offer from the Gophers signs with SDSU.

Brookings does have that little rib joint on the main drag that I thought was ok. I am glad South Dakota State made it in and wish them luck.

That might have been Wolters worst game in the last 2 years. He would not be a star here but he would help and definitely would be in the rotation.

The hypocracy in saying that we should have both gone for a guy like Wolters, while having stellar recruiting classes is preposterous.

Agreed. He would not be required/allowed to take 22 shots with the Gophers either.

If you are talking about my post I did not mean to insinuate that it was a mistake to not recruit Wolters. Hindsight is 20/20 and I don't think anybody felt he was going to be as good as he has become.

I merely just wanted to state that he would help this team.

panolo, are you a SDSU fan? If you are, congratulations and good luck. Happy for you.

Maybe I should type in fragmented sentences.

I don't see any posts where I stated "OMG! Go Jackrabbits!" or any posts where I say "Huge mistake not recruiting Wolters." Especially when I believe his only chance at the U would have been the Dusty Reichart way.

If you can't be happy for a MN kid, especially one not recruited by us, going to the Big Dance than I believe that you are way too narrow sighted.

I'm 35 and been to over 100 games at the barn. Don't think we have played SDSU that many times.

Sorry man, didn't mean to upset you. I saw where you said it was Wolters worst game in a couple of years, thought you might be a fan. No disrespect or offense intended.

Cool no offense taken or meant to be returned to you. No I watch a ton of basketball and have followed Wolters the last few years. I tend to watch many mid major games as I think some of the big schools have lost control and let guys play more of the NBA game. I like to see good shooting and passing.

and look. the silly troll even put sdsu in capital letters, but put the "U" in lower case. ohhhhh.......why i oughta. that really grinds my gears.

man, i bet it sure is tough to win the horizon league playoffs or summit league playoffs or whatever it is called. we are talking some tough competition game in and game out. i mean top in the nation competition. far tougher to win than the lowly big ten.

keep dreamin' troll......oops i mean OP.

I think the only way the Gophs are going to lose recruits to SDSU (or NDSU for that matter) will be a kid like Wolters - a borderline D1 recruit who has to choose between going to the Gophs and (possibly) sitting on the bench, or going to a mid-major or one of the new regional D1 programs where he would have a better opportunity for playing time.

Sure, every once in a while the Gophs might lose a diamond in the rough, or a kid who matures physically later than others - but for the most part, if the Gophs and SDSU want the same kid, I think he's going to go to the bigger school more often than not. (Now if the Gophs are recruiting against Dave Boots at South Dakota - that's a different story..............had to throw that in - I went to college with Dave.)

No, not just you, but several others who are angry we didn't go after lesser recruits, after the fact.
