Time to open the war chest.
I’m surprised as well, I did not think we were in good position to land him. If we can put together a competitive NIL package for him I think we should be in the driver seat. Keep in mind while Alabama may have the larger budget, they have to spread it across 15-20 blue chip recruits AND meet the demands of the blue chippers currently on the roster.Wow....really surprised to see Iowa out of the mix. Gives me hope that we have a good shot of keeping him home similar to Koi who had it down to us and Ohio State. Small town Minnesota kid so hopefully he has seen what things have been like for Perich and wants to follow in his footsteps. Will be interesting to see what position he ends up playing in college but would be awesome if he decides to stay home and play for the Gophers.
Howard had more like a final 4 or final 3....at least we are in the final 2 for Voss. This may be a “negative” post but it could definitely be a Jaxon Howard situation. Leave for a year to a blue blood and realize Minnesota was the right move.
Great work by the staff to get into the final 2
Anything is possible but this feels a lot more like the situation with Perich. Gotta think Koi is playing a big role in trying to persuade Roman to stay home given how similar their situations are. This may be a “negative” post but it could definitely be a Jaxon Howard situation. I haven't seen Perich in any local ads, nor making any appearances.Won't real NIL opportunities usually be better near home? Like getting advertising gigs, etc., and building his brand? That would be especially true if he's actually good. He can be a hometown hero like Perich. Becoming a celebrity in a different state where you're starting from zero and the local advertisers would rather promote their own local kids would be harder, right? All else being equal.

Alabama visit is second and on June 13th according to 247 so assuming we are in fact the only 2 schools he is considering it would seem like a decision would come shortly after the Alabama visit. Which would make sense if he wants to have it done before starting his senior season.Do we know the expected timing of an announcement? (Didn't go back and read the whole thread).
My kid has a box of Koi Perich Gushers......I haven't seen Perich in any local ads, nor making any appearances.
The Baldy's BBQ stuff is small potatoes, and on top of that, I'm sure the out-of-state kids got the same from the event.
Where can I find these??My kid has a box of Koi Perich Gushers......

I hope his family/inner circle are smart about this. He will get reps and touches here that he simply won't get at a blue blood. The staff has been selling Voss on the idea of using him as a dynamic, play making TE. They see Voss lining up all over the field like Penn St used Tyler Warren.
Makes sense and seems like that could be a great role for a guy like Voss. Dynamic athlete with good size/speed. Assuming he can catch the ball consistently you can do a lot with a player like that in today's offenses. The staff has been selling Voss on the idea of using him as a dynamic, play making TE. Yeah but even someone as good as Koi may not have played as a Freshman at Bama or OSU....unless he's really good.
Ya this is my thought at as well. While a blue blood may pay more up front, long term you might make less, especially if you can’t get on the field. Plus any chance at the NFL of course diminishes the longer you’re on the sidelines. With the new NIL and transfer landscape, the goal for most HS players should be to get on the field (meaningfully) as fast as possible. I get the draw of wanting to compete for a Natty, but sitting 3 deep on the depth chart for 2 years makes even less sense now when you can be getting paid, and still have the option to transfer up.
...unless they're really, really, really, really good.Yeah but even someone as good as Koi may not have played as a Freshman at Bama or OSU.
