Reid Travis Picks Stanford Over U

Kevon Looney announces October 31st. If he commits to Duke that would hopefully make it less likely Reid goes there.

Kevin Looney's crystal ball is 27 picks to Duke out of 27. I know crystal ball isn't guaranteed but still. Would Reid really go to Duke if Looney commits there on the 31st?
 

How many scholarships does Duke have available? If they get Tyus, Jahlil and Kevin, do they still have a scholarship available for Reid?

Depends they already have one recruit. It would depend on how many guys leave early, but I doubt Reid would want to at worst be second fiddle or more likely split minutes with Looney when he can come to the big ten and get 30 minutes a game off the bat

If Looney is declaring on the 31st and Reid really wants to go to Duke- why wouldn't Reid grab the spot first? Is Duke telling Reid that Looney gets first shot? I am starting to feel good about getting Travis. Perfect fit for our needs and our system.
 


I haven't seen anything on when Humphrey will announce, but I kind of think it'd be more likely for him to wait and see where Travis goes than vice versa. Travis is a better player and I think if they both ended up at Stanford, Humphrey would struggle to get minutes more so than Travis.
 



Well, I have low expectations, I still think we've got a better chance at Rashad, but I'd love it if we ended up with Reid. I think he'd thrive in this system.
 

Why does GH delete so much user-generated content? I love this forum, but am sincerely asking because it doesn't make sense. There were several intruiging posts from this thread earlier that were deleted.
 

I think when stuff gets off topic or turns into the Tubby v. Anti-Tubby debate that the mods like to get the thread back on track by cleaning up some of the distracting off topic posts.

Thanks Madtown. My apologies for not knowing, but are you one of the mods? I thought there were a lot of intriguing facts regarding Travis' recruitment on this thread today. I'm not sure if we need a new thread every time we discuss Reid then, or if it's out of bounds to compare his school options, but it gets really old. Deleting appropriate content from any forum is one of the worst thing a mod can do. For any site that is.

After finishing his official visit to Arizona last weekend, Phoenix big man Michael Humphrey has an unclear timetable for a decision.

Humphrey told the Star via text message that his visit to Arizona was “great,” but also wrote that he wasn’t sure when he would decide between UA and Stanford.

“As far as a decision goes, I don’t know when I will decide, just letting it all sink in,” he said.

According to 247 Sports’ Jerry Meyer, Stanford’s Johnny Dawkins made an in-home visit to Humphrey on Monday (Meyer also said Humphrey will make a decision by the end of this week). Humphrey has already taken an official visit to Stanford.

He didn't respond to me, but less than a half hour later Meyer changed his pick on Travis to the Gophers. To me, as weird as this sounds, it says a recruiting "expert" didn't put together the fact that Looney and Travis were unlikely to co-exist. It's either that or he, and many others, figured by putting both Travis and Looney to Duke they'd get at least one right. To be sure, this exchange leads me to be much less interested in the crystal ball stuff.

I think there are countless other posibilities for what it means. Maybe he already planned on changing it, and you just reminded him? Or maybe your tweet had nothing to do with it? Almost 5 hours before your tweet, he said this:

Looks like he was doubting it before you even tweeted at him.
 


I think anytime Duke offers a player, especially when Kentucky, UNC, and Kansas aren't in the picture, most of these experts will put Duke as the favorite until there's a reason not to.
 

Meyer could have easily predicted Stanford or Gonzaga as well. In fact, before Meyer changed his prediction, the last two predictions were for Gonzaga.
 

I think Meyer is seeing the landscape like many of us optimistic Gopher fans see it. Looney to Duke, Reid to Minnesota, and Humphrey to Stanford.

But his most recent Gopher prediction was Nate Mason about 3 weeks ago. The curse has been broken people.
 

Meyer may have inside information sometimes, but most of the time I think his "crystal ball" picks are simply based on the same public information and deductions that us fans make.
 

Anybody as nervous for the Looney decision as they are for Reid's? How big of a kick to the balls would it be to see Looney commit to Wisconsin and Reid to Duke?
