Recruiting

I have stood next to McKenzie many times and she is definitely taller than 5'8. With her athleticism that's irrelevant anyway. The kid's vertical is incredible. She is, by far, the most athletic player in Minnesota. Nobody else is even close. The main issue is skill development, overall understanding of the game and developing the ability to play within a system and share the basketball. The coaching at Park Center is less-than-ideal (way, way less) and Adalia is basically freelancing her way through high school. If there is an AAU season (let's hope so!) she will learn to play the game the right way from Gerard Coury at North Tartan, who has a long track record of sending players to college well-prepared.
Kids that enter the 17U EYBL program ARE ALREADY college-bound players... They are already developed... We want to see the players that he has developed from grassroots... Ask Williams and Thompson about being D1 prospects and ending up JUCO bound from the EYBL circuit

NCAA recruiting dead period extended through 31 August.

The Division I Council extended the recruiting dead period in all sports through Aug. 31. The Council met virtually Thursday afternoon.

The full Council and the Council Coordination Committee will continue to review the recruiting dead periods on a regular basis. A dead period precludes all in-person recruiting. Phone calls and correspondence can continue to occur.

Additionally, the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Oversight Committees indicated they are not planning to recommend any changes to the summer access model that was adopted last week, which permits institutions to begin summer countable athletically related activities in basketball beginning July 20 and may include up to eight hours per week of weight training, conditioning and skill instruction, with not more than four hours of skill instruction

Any updates? Been a little quiet here on the recruiting front.

So now that 2021 is completed with Borowicz, Czinano and Micheaux, focus turns to 2022. However 2022 has some question marks. As of right now, there is one guaranteed senior on next year's squad in JUCO Daja Woodard. If Mershon applies for a wavier to play this year, then that would make two seniors next season and then 2 open scholarships for 2022. If she doesn't get the waiver, then at this point they have 1 available scholarship for 2022.

Here is the known offers for the Class of 2022

That is 16 offers in a class that they might have 1 available scholarship. The coaching staff has to either know of transfers coming or something.

My opinion is Sissoko, Powell, Scalia, Sconiers, hopefully all staying, unsure on the rest of the players.

Katalinich and Hubbard are the ones who will be leaving after this year

Katalinich and Hubbard are the ones who will be leaving after this year

Thats why I said Woodard is only senior on NEXT year's squad, not this year's team. with Laura and Hubbard graduated from the 14 on the roster this year, brings em down to 12. Add Borowicz, Czinano and Micheaux, that brings them to 15 (at the limit) for 21-22 team.

Excellent addition ! At 6'2" she looks like a true power forward and fills an area of need. Go Gophers !

So how good is she? Is this a big get for the Gophers?

Great news! Sounds like a solid addition.

Thanks for staying home Mallory and making Minnesota proud. Best of luck, look forward to watching you blossom as a Golden Gopher
