Q&A: Cretin's James Onwualu Talks Gophers, Jerry Kill and His Upcoming Visit to the U

A lot of people on this board have already said they're sick of your posts and wish you'd go away, and you can add me to the list. People wanted to post on what was a pretty encouraging interview with JO where it sounds like the Gophers might have a shot with him. Instead, you hijacked the thread by mocking people from a thread posted a month earlier who have seen him play in live games that commented that his offer list seemed excessive based on what we saw. In your mind, everyone is supposed to drool over him since he has 9 offers and we can't ever question the opinions of coaches. You view yourself as the "fact policeman" on this board and "point out idiot posters and their terrible takes," yet you freely admit you've never watched him in person and criticize the takes of those who have. The hypocrisy is thick... Countdown to your multi-quote reply since you always need the last word, 3, 2, 1....

In DPo's defense, he is usually right when criticizing the takes of people on here who clearly know very little about football. When he is proven wrong, he admits it. The best way to avoid this problem is to become more informed.

I have never stated that he is worthy of 9 BCS offers. I have never stated that he is worthy of a Gopher offer. I have never stated that he is worthy of any offers at all.

I do not eat green eggs and ham, I do not eat them Sam I am!

Please show me where I said that?

I think that's the point JG, you did not say that and no one really blasted you for having your opinion. Another poster has been comparing Onwualu to JD Pride and saying that his offers are the result of a "hype machine"....that is nonsense.

I think your point is that you would have thought you would have seen more from a player as heavily recruited as him when you saw him in person. That's entirely fair and obviously NOT an idiotic comment.

To be completely honest, I am a little surprised that he has this many offers this early. I thought he was a Big 10 caliber player, but I figured he'd have a small handful of offers. So in some ways, I agree with you, just to a lesser extent.

From what I've read, not great. But this is the most I've ever heard him talk about the U and he had some good things to say. I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up here but I think it'll more likely be a helmet school he chooses.

Wait for Bob_Loblaw's input on James, but i'd love to see him in Maroon and Gold.

I honestly have no idea where he ends up. I would not be surprised to see him end up at Stanford or Notre Dame, but I honestly have zero inside info and those are just hunches. I guessed Stanford because of his grades and it is such a good school and Notre Dame because the similarities between Notre Dame and CDH (same reason why St. Johns and St. Thomas is full of CDH grads).

I think the U has a chance. From what i've heard, he's an intelligent and level-headed guy so I think he will be able to see the appeal of the U.

Allegedly the words "I'm not going to Minnesota" have come out of his mouth privately.

Yea, but that was in response to "Hey, where do you want to go for Spring Break?" His response "I'm not going to Minnesota."

Go Gophers!!

I've seen the guy for two years. He's a terrific athlete.... being recruited as just that....something the Gophers haven't had in years!

The older brother goes to the Wharton business school. There is no chance he goes to the U.

Yeah, MarQueis Gray is no athlete.

If this kid can't make up his mind by now, we don't want him. Sounds like all he is doing is looking for attention. McDonald II.

Sarcasm right?

He hasn't even finished his junior year of high school. And yes we do want him.

A- He's a JR
B- He hasn't committed anywhere
C- I thought we all were happy to have McDonald

+1

Of course gray is a good athlete. The whole team is athletic compared to a bunch guys posting stuff on here. .... The Gophers simply have not had enough athletes to be competitive since a couple of the Mason teams. Heck, you can make a good case - that the entire Big 10 doesn't have enough good athletes when compared to the other elite conferences or schools.

Having a good athlete at 1 or 2 positions doesn't count.....

Your original statement was:

He's a terrific athlete.... being recruited as just that....something the Gophers haven't had in years!

Providing an example of even just one "terrific athlete" invalidates your comment. So yes, having a good athlete at 1 or 2 positions does count.

Stupidest thing I have ever read. How many players in our last class committed by this point? Like 3 or 4? So the rest of the class is full of guys we don't want. Gotchya.

It was 2. McDonald committed on Feb. 6, and Nelson on Feb. 19. Williams followed on Feb. 23.

Also, a lot of peoples' sarcasm meters are apparently in need of repair.

Hate to interupt this brilliant argument, but I heard through the grapevine he isn't coming to the Junior Day anymore.

I just read too much stupid around here to know any more...

@AllenTrieu: FYI - James Onwualu will be gone for two weeks (mission trip), then he'll visit #Michigan #OhioState and #NotreDame again when he returns

$hit, that's not good sign.

actually, its a great sign.. better they waste the scholly than us:

wayzata 42-0
11 rushes, 33 yards
long: 6
avg: 2.8

1 reception, 6 yards

and does this kid play hoops? most 'great athletes' play hoops.. the last two great recruits out of cdh both played hoops.. wasn't floyd all-Strib 1st team?

h-y-p-e.

You're an idiot. Ya all those coaches getting millions of dollars are offering this kid cause some guy told them that he is good. Nah, they wouldn't send anyone that they know and trust to scout this kid, they'll just trust some random stranger that tells them he's good. Ok, whatever you say.

these 'scouts' must have skipped the Wayzata game....
and the games i saw...
and the games royalfan saw..
and the games john gault saw...

dpod? the 'expert who is usually correct' hasn't seen him... have you?

so who has actually seen this guy? ( besides, of course, bob_loblaw, the hypemaster ).

so he ran a 4.5 40 at a camp last summer. bfd. i bet floyd can't run a 4.5

now if this kid had 400 all-purpose in that loss to wayzata, and 5 dunks and 40 points in a loss to hopkins, then i would believe.

Haha, does this look familiar!! Should I mention something about Edwards now that some of you board dominators will spin way out of control? First time back since BL's outburst. Same old, same old. If dpod or bob don't agree with your comment, you are an idiot. Then their little followers like bam and tbnl always follow up with the "my buddy is always right, how dare you disagree with them" comment. Don't understand why so many of you little people always cower to dpod and bob. They are hardly gods of all things football...

Dboy- I never said Onwualu wasn't good. I think you're referring to the post where I said that in the games I saw (not very many), Junius Wilson was a more effective open-field runner than many players getting big-time D-I looks. I also said that while Junius was a good high school runner, but there is no way that he would have more success at the FBS level than nearly all the running backs getting more hype. I never really said anything bad about Onwualu. I would be absolutely thrilled to have Onwualu commit, as he is most likely the best player in the state.
