Can we drop this now? Read the introduction and it gives scientific references to the data showing a difference in the overall musculature between races. Also, this is in no way racism. Mentioning differences between groups of people is not racism. Now can we take the race riot elsewhere?

No, it's the American way to give everything racial undertones.

No, there is not a single HS athlete, now or ever, running an electronic 4.3.

You're wrong. I bet Jeff Demps, who ran a 10.01 100 meter dash time MIGHT have been to run a 4.3. Chris Johnson's fastest 40 is 4.28. Demps very well might be close to that.

This is excerpts from: http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/human_nature/2008/12/white_men_cant_jump.2.html

So, yes, all other things being equal, you can expect this gene to cause Africans and African-Americans to be disproportionately represented at the highest levels of speed and power sports. No white sprinter can be found on the list of 100-meter sprinters; the best time by a white, 10 seconds, ranks more than 200th on the all-time list. The likelihood of that happening based on population numbers alone—blacks from that region, now living around the globe, represent approximately 8 percent of the world's population—is 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001 percent. Note the distinction: West Africans dominate sprinting. East Africans do better at distance running.

Super interesting article.

Maybe I'm missing it, and I'll admit I'm skimming, it only refers to Caucasians. And to both you and Former, if you tell someone they can't do something becuse of the color of their skin, it is racism. And I did offer to take this to the off topic board.

If you all still disagree, please tell Eric Decker and Wes Welker to give up their NFL dreams due to extreme whiteness! :)

Those guys didn't make it to the NFL because they can run sub 4.4s (they can't), they made it to the NFL because they are good football players. What dpol said, and later expanded on, isn't and wasn't intended to be racist.

I agree. But, if he didn't intend it to be racist he could have immediately stated that, but he kept his stance either way and that's unaceptable to me. Sorry, white kids don't deserve to be branded slow. And if you still think it "isn't" racist to say a white kid can't run fast, you need a little help too.

I was just talking to my roommate about this (he is black) and he said that in no way does he consider saying black people are more likely to be faster because of fast twitch muscle fibers is racist. Granted it's just one person's opinion but take it as you will.

Once again, no one said or insinuated that anywhere in this thread.

I thought this site was about Gophers sports, not to see a bunch of "politically correct" retards argue with each other.

I don't remember one person saying that. Look at everything I said. It's all based on research by people a lot smarter than you and me.

If he is there for spring practice, I bet he at least has a chance to play quite a bit. I like Gray as a person a lot, but it is not obvious his passing problems are solvable, and I think they will always play at least two QBs. Missing wide open receivers kills this O.
I have no idea what he has been told or what 40 time he ran.

how can you take a small percentage of blacks and whites, i.e. those who competitively run sprints, and say that 'blacks are, on average, much faster than whites'? there are a lot more oscar winning actors who are white than black. are you going to tell me that whites are, on average, better actors than blacks?

care to explain why disciplines like competitive weightlifting, strongman competitions, shot put and discus and certain cycling events that require fast twitch muscles are dominated by white athletes?

Please see Dpo's post on subjective measurements versus objective measurements.

So uh, what's lost in this... did someone start already start a thread at least partially advocating we start a QB that isn't even on our roster yet? Wow....

And stating objective evidence for differences between groups is not racist/sexist/etc., it is what it is. Now, if you want to use that evidence to discriminate against an individual, that is a whole other story. People are to be judged individually for their talents.

Thank you. I've never known a black person who disagreed with this. Ask any black guy who the better boxers are too & see what he says?
