Other Bowl Games Thread

The one thing that is objectively harder about college football than the NFL is a short field goal from a hashmark.

Is it just me or is there a world of inconsistency in the brandishing a weapon penalty? Wally shows his abs, flag. Guys shooting bows and arrows and putting swords back in their sheath throughout all of bowl games and playoffs and nothing. Kind of a goofy penalty.
It is a goofy penalty but weapon definitely only seems to apply to Gun because yeah the they don't care at all about the bow and arrow or sword.

Can anyone give me a single logical argument why you kick a fg there?
It was 4th and goal from the 9. Yes, they are down 2 scores but the odds of making both 2 pt conversions is about 20-25%. So a FG removes that from the equation, and they hoped to get 2 more possessions and 2 more TD.

With 9:30 left and all their timeouts and the 2 minute warning it's reasonable to think 2 more possessions, but if they have to get conversions they have to get 2 more possessions to have maybe a 20% chance of getting the conversions they need

Why would you go for two after the last TD, and then decide to run the FG team out there now?!

Absolutely terrible decision. There aren't enough possessions left.

Putting aside the result of the kick that is an all time awful decision to kick there by Freeman.
That decision and the decision to run a fake punt in an obvious situation on 4th and 2 instead of using your offense will definitely be second guessed.

But the field goal attempt was absolutely a terrible decision.

I have seen it once called and it was on us

I guess? Except OSU gets to start at the 30 if you make it and you’re needing 85-90 yards with at least 2 min off the clock. It’s just really hard to make the time work

Didn’t think you could get the 4th and goal and would cover 2 two point conversions

I disagree with the choice but that’s why

If you hit it it’s 31-25 right now

Yeah I don’t think it was a terrible decision when it’s 4th and long. It absolutely helps eliminate 2 point conversions. They score here they absolutely have a legit chance to get the ball back one more time.

Personally I hate trying to use the argument of how the game plays out after like nothing would’ve changed. Changes everything starting very simply with field position and then going to game theory

Also consider that 2 TD and 2 conversions is a tie and overtime, and a FG and 2 TD is a win

Figure OT is 50/50 and that changes the math

OSU has two great RB and last 2 plays they have gone with QB runs.....I mean run it if you want to run it but give it one of your RB at least.
