Other Bowl Games Thread

There you go. All 4 winners were the teams without a bye. Interesting result. I think Penn St has a great chance against Notre Dame. Should be a fun next two games. Too bad the SEC only has one team left.
Weren’t they all favorites?

REPEATING Post #1,171

My proposed version of Re-seeding after the Round of 12 would have been based on the Final Overall CFP Rankings. Even with giving Arizona St & Boise St Byes, they didn't also have to be the #3 & 4 seeds. I would have gone:

BASED ON CFP Rankings
#1 Oregon vs #12 Arizona St / Rose Bowl
#2 Georgia vs #9 Boise St / Sugar Bowl
#3 Texas vs #6 Ohio St / Peach Bowl
#4 Penn St vs #5 Notre Dame / Fiesta Bowl
That’s fine. Then they should just seed and throw out the auto byes then.

I like the tournament set up. Some years it’ll work out the way people think it should and some years it won’t. Other than expanding it, they haven’t changed the NCAA tournament in forever and it’s still the best tournament out there, even though sometimes you end up with brackets that seem loaded more than others and you have final fours where the seemingly two best teams play in the semifinals. That’s just the way things go.

Duke looks terrible. Ole Miss doesn't even have to throw the ball downfield. Just a swing pass or a quick receiver screen picks up seven or eight everytime. Duke has done nothing to stop it.

I flipped away from the Duke game. It sounds like Duke has been hit hard by the portal or personnel losses if that is the reason or not… they look awful.

Shitty play calling by both teams

Yeah. And Ole Miss is/can be really good too

Duke lost QB Maalik Murphy which is a big hit. Doesn’t explain their defense though, must be a lot of attrition.

Think Penn State would have been quite happy with a Big Ten Championship. Especially seeing as how they are still going to have to play Ohio State (probably) to win the title.
Meh, I doubt it.

2 were heavy favorites, Penn St & Texas because of the AutoBids/Byes that Boise St & Arizona St got with the Conference Champion mandate.

Ohio State was a slight favorite (-2) and playing Oregon on a neutral field which they previously lost by less than a FG in Eugene.

Notre Dame was a slight favorite (-1) playing Georgia with a QB making his first ever start.

Interesting, sure. Surprising, not much.

Would be crazy to see back to back years with all (currently) B1G teams in the final. Hope it happens, but could easily see either PSU or OSU lose. OSU is great when motivated and winning by the score they did may make them overconfident and soft against TX. PSU is better than ND, but not good enough to walk away with it. That game will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes.

I was thinking the same thing. Potential for not only four of the last four playoff finalists, but four DIFFERENT teams no less, all from the (current) B1G.

Very impressive win by the Irish. Their staff and players really have them rolling. Leonhard is a great athlete and leader at QB. Could it be a Buckeye/Domer final.
