Other Bowl Games Thread

Yup and this game also shows how average a team PSU is, play a better team and they might get pummeled.
This is the biggest loss Boise state is going to take all year and they’re out gaining Penn state

2 missed field goals and losing turnover battle. Down by 10

Penn State should have run K Allen 10-12 more times instead of passing imo
Absolutely. It should’ve been hammered up the middle all game with play action over the top and down the seam to Warren. Why they dicked around and got cute forever is confusing but classic Franklin. They’re going to win, but made it was closer than it should’ve been and needed the Boise errors to keep it comfortable

After watching all these CFP and bowl games, I'm coming to the realization that the Gophs are realistically on the cusp of being a CFP level team. Just need some key player health and the ball to bounce the right way a few times.
Need to win all the 50/50 games

They’re a play away from beating:
North Carolina
Rutgers

Probably 3-4 plays from beating
Michigan
Penn state

Got whipped by Iowa in the second half

They win 3 of those 5 games and the gophers are probably in the playoff over SMU

Thank goodness the refs have decided to now throw a flag every play after letting them clutch and grab both ways all game

Not out gaining them anymore

I feel like this game proved that Boise state is slightly worse than Penn state but not out of place in this game

Yeah, game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Boise played well and got killed by a TD called back as well as missed field goals. Too many errors to win a game that they possibly could have won.

Boise State looks like a B1G team.
They look similar to the caliber of Rutgers, MN, Iowa, etc

Really solid team with a star player/RB (Monungai, Taylor, Johnson), a solid defense, and play a physical brand. Idk if there is as really anything rremarkable about them aside from Jeanty who they sold out to stop.

Yup and this game also shows how average a team PSU is, play a better team and they might get pummeled, which I would enjoy as Franklin is one of my least favorite CFB coaches.
I think their defense is too good assuming the injuries they got today don't keep those guys off the field. The have an excellent running game with two great backs, but their passing game and QB are not great outside jump balls to Tyler Warren.

James Franklin almost blew this game by getting away from the running game.

I don’t think they’re going to be able to run it straight at nd or Georgia (see what happened vs OSU). If allar plays an out of his mind kind of game, maybe they can get it done but I’d envision PSU will want that game to feature under 40 total points.

BSU made this an entertaining game, where none of the P4s RD1 did the same. Unfortunately Kellen Moore isn’t walking through that door.

Game kind of turned into a sloppy clunker right when it had all the makings of getting interesting. 5 turnovers 2 missed FGs and 23 penalties.

Not sure what your point is🧐.

My point is they’re not that impressive to me after a game which they didn’t overwhelm Boise and I felt the same way after they beat us by one point.

Play a team that has a better D and we’ll see how much they run for.

Brosmer is a better QB for my money and you may have heard my chuckle when it was announced Allar was foregoing the draft; followed by my rejoinder, “I didn’t know that vernacular applied to the UFL.”

This has been a near* perfect B1G day. Don’t blow it now to a non power conf team.

*one bonehead Jedd Fisch decision to go for two from being perfect.

It's a mid tier bowl game that no one will remember a few days from now. No use in playing for OT in a glorified scrimmage with a bunch of backups. Going for 2 was the right call.
