Official Reaction To Gophers NCAA Seed/Matchup Thread

Gophers catch a break playing ucla without Adams. The teams 2nd leading scorer and its best man to man defender. UCLA is also just a 34% 3 pt shooting team. UCLA's pg Drew averages 7.4 assists, and only 2.4 to per game. They start a big front line but are a very bad rebounding team. Muhammed is one of the NCAA's best scorers and after watching Paul carry the Illinois single handidly against us we need to do a better job.

Dre vs Drew 6'2" 180 pg sr. Drew is a pass first pg. Dre needs to have a big game and we have the advantage here.
Austin vs Powell 6'4" 215 so. Both are good defenders. Hopefully Austin has refound his 3pt shot. Austin has an advantage.
Coleman vs Muhammed 6'6"225. I dont see coleman guarding Muhammed, I think Austin will start on him but just a tough matchup. I would like to see Rodney on him if we go big. Lottery pick Muhammed has a huge advantage either way.
Rodney vs Anderson 6'9" 235 Fr. Anderson is a bit of a point forward but he is not a good shooter.
Trevor vs T. Wear 6'10" 230 JR. Wear is skilled but not athletic. We need Trevor to dominate this matchup. UCLA will double team Trevor we have to counter well, reverse the ball, and hopefully hit some of those jumpers.

UCLA's bench is shortened with Adams injury and a few transfers. Hopefully we can get some great minutes from EE, Welch, and Mav. We can, we should, and hopefully we will dominate the offensive glass. UCLA is big but not physical. They will double Trevor so we will need to reverse the ball and hit some shots. I like our chances.

I like the break down of matchups, and I'm concerned with the Muhammed matchup as well. Also I am hoping we see more Ingram and less Coleman.

Good for the Gophers in making the dance. I wasn't nearly as confident as many on this board that the selection committee would pick the Gophers. I'm glad I was wrong and you folks were right.

It looks like UCLA's point guard broke his foot in the PAC 12 tourney, which bodes well for the Gophers winning their first NCAA tournament game in years.

Now go ahead, give me your best GH Gestapo abuse. I'll take it like a man!

Jordan Adams is not a point guard.

I kind of hope we out Rodney on Muhammed. I think his length would really bother him. And Austin on Drew. Just kind of throws off all of the other positions.

Maybe we run some zone?

Will be an exciting game none the less.

What everyone needs to remember is that every and all of the bobble heads with talking jabberwacky think of Minnesota as fly over country. That is good. They still think we fight Native Americans behind every tree.

I still do. I mean Indians are Godless, bloody savages afterall. I carry whiskey and small pox infested blankets with me in the car just in case I get in a bind with some of them. And what is with the illegal and stupid monopoly on casino gambling that Minnesota Democrats have given them?

PC police in 3.......2.......1

:p

Hopefully they motivate Rodney with a "this guy is probably going to be a top 3 pick, shut him down and impress some scouts."

might be a dumb question, but any chance a local broadcast station will pick up the game?

I don't Believe WCCO has the equivalent of a 45 or Wucw. Although maybe WCCO might be able to do it locally, but I highly doubt they could do that.

You would think playing the one man offense of Paul and now Muhammed that Tubby would try a box and one on him with Austin chasing. The box would stop any post ups. No one else on the team is a very good 3pt shooter.
