***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS WAKE FOREST 3RD PLACE ESPN EVENTS INVITATIONAL IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Dawson trying to blame Fox for not being somewhere when he throws a blind wrap around pass is hilarious

Gophers shoot 17% from 3 and Wake shoots 7% from 3, yet the Gophers lose by 6.
Wake got far too many second, third, and fourth chance opportunities.
Gophers go 0-2 in the tournament and establish themselves as one of the worst D1 power 6 teams in the nation.

So bad in so many ways. 3-18 on 3's. 6-15 on FTs and this appears to be the norm for these guys.

Garcia with a horrid game 8 points on 12 shots and 3 turnovers. Got dominated underneath and played like he didn't care.

8 games in this team is now shooting FTs at below 60%. That should not be possible at the major college level. 26.6% on threes for the year.

How can a guy like Parker Fox play in college for 8 years and not be able to shoot (and make) a free throw. That's nuts.

3 pages of posts for the Bball game as opposed to 20 for the football game. That’s about right in terms of interest from the fans.

Most every Big Ten team is going to have a guy that is as good or better than Spillers. Ben is going to have to learn what help defense looks like in the post. Garcia and Mitchell cannot defend it. There is no presence like Payne was last year.

Wake with 42 rebounds to the Gophers 27 rebounds. Far too many second chance opportunities for the Deacons.

Mitchell is terrible. He had a terrible foul at end of game yesterday because he doesn’t move his feet, and two bad fouls already. Why does he even play?

He's active on the O glass because he's such a big load down there so he's good at that.

But yeah, otherwise he's dreadful.

Horrible passer. Rancid, beyond rancid actually, bball IQ. Some of the bad passes and fouls he commits would only be done by people medically required to wear a helmet. He's too out of shape to guard anyone laterally(also a reason for the fouls) and while he's strong he lacks height so any normal big just shoots over him.

Edmonds and Fox are far better options. Considering all 3 blow at free throws.

We are going to find out if Garcia just wants to try and put up his own numbers or if he wants to win. If he wants to win he is going to have to find a way to have 4-5 assists a game and make his team mates better. Games like today will happen often in the Big Ten for him if he doesn't make teams pay for doubling him. A good bit of that is on coach Ben as well. Garcia is a good player with really good skills but he is not an athletic stud that is just going over the top of people when doubled.

Nice recruiting. Wow. All three post options are 40% FT shooters.

Get used to teams playing Garcia very tough.

Starting lineup- 41 shots- 31 points
Bench 10 shots - 20 points
Odds on Ben using the same starting line up next game (unless Mitchell is back)- Strong.

I’d like to see Garcia, Edmunds, Betts, Patterson/Mike Mitchell, and Asuma. Betts looked decent at SF in the first half a game or two ago. Edmunds has more life and is at least in shape versus Frank Mitchell.

Ben’s failure to try different combos and develop players during the non conference has not changed in his 4 years here. Hopefully, there is not a 5th year.

I'm glad I only watched during halftime of the football game and that was more than enough. I'm not going to watch this team again until the game after they beat a Big Ten team. I should have a long break.

Right now I am betting that Ben is selling and drinking this Kool Aide. "If Cochran and Mitchell weren't out- we'd be undefeated." He clouds his own ability to learn by believing his own BS.

I had to go back and look since I watched a little of a recent Wyoming game. Sundance Wicks was hired in May. He still managed to piece together an ok roster. Not saying he's the one, more just that it's inexplicable that the Gophers can have this little talent 4 years in.
