***OFFICIAL*** Minnesota VS. ND State -(GAME THREAD)-

Let's face it. NDSU is much better than the Gophers, with only half the size. They are also better coached. I hope Kill can fix this asap, because it is definitely embarrassing. NDSU came to play today, the Gophers, well the D certainly didn't.

Our secondary is atrocious, and our D-line isn't much better. Our O-line is also putrid and Gray has no confidence in his throwing ability. At this point, I am starting to agree with the people from Week 1 who said Shortell should be the starter. When Shortell is in there things happen. Probably because the defense actually worries about the pass, which opens up the running game.

That play to end the half was putrid. Actually, the whole series of plays was putrid. Run on 1st down from your own 45 with only 20 seconds left. Then short pass, then medium pass, and finally, from the 45 yard line, Gray threw immediately to only the 20-yard line - the worst Hail Mary pass I've ever seen - and you all know what happened thereafter to end the half - that kind of amazing ending to the half of course could only happen to a Minnesota sports team, but that's besides the point - that was horrible coaching and execution to end the half.

Kill and company have a lot of work to do. This team will get blasted in the Big Ten, this year is likely going to be worse than Brewster's first year.

See? You can't tell me it's cause our receivers aren't open... Gray just doesn't see them. Go Shortell!

I've been saying since week 1 that Shortell was a substantially better passer than Q and no one wanted to believe me except a select few.

Gray has the disease of the non-QB - which Weber also had - he can't read a defense, and can't see more than 1 receiver. I'm surprised by how bad Gray has been, I eat crow for supporting him at QB previously. Time for him to become a receiver again.

As that play shows, our O-line can't block anything and Max Shortell might get killed if he plays all of the snaps with how porous this line is.

I wish gray had been able to actually play right away. Being away from the position did not help him.

With the D playing the way they are we need TDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So impressive that Shortell is a true freshman too. Shortell and Kirkwood will be great players! Gray is a nice guy, and great athlete, but that doesn't mean he should be the QB.

And its been obvious since the first snap he took. Q should be used as a HB/WR hybrid.

I can't believe how much the Gopher's secondary is making NDSU's receivers look like Eric Decker.

I'm disappointed people are throwing Gray under the bus. The defense is the primary problem in this game.

Yes the defense has been A problem, but it isn't like the back ups have shown more promise doing what a player at their position should be doing a lot better than the starters.

How did we only lose by 2 against USC, are they that bad?

True but at this point it's clear that Shortell is outplaying Gray...

I just don't understand how guys who have played QB in high school cannot understand that you can't stare down your receiver and then get jumpy when he's not open.

Perhaps Gray would have been better served if the O-line was better. At this point he's just playing scared.

Under throw for Shortell.

One false start by a WR is bad enough. Two by the same player in the same game, head isn't in the game.

Before anyone slow jacks Shortell over that the line did a good job of picking up the blitz and that was a pretty elementary read and throw. It's good but not due to Shortell being amazing.

He was kind of a diva out there too earlier when Gray over threw him.

Time for the defense to step up.
