***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I mean as Minnesota sports fans none of us would have been shocked if they had called it on Patterson....thankfully though they got it right.
everyone in the game knew who they were going to and what they wanted to do. That's good coaching and a gritty job by Patterson. Really moved his feet.
By the way, how clutch has he been lately? Shoutout to LP 🙌

I stayed up to watch the game against my body's wishes and it paid off 😴
I did my part by not watching which is showing itself to be a key indicator of success this year. I’ve not seen a win live all season long and witnessed the two biggest stinkers of the year in the Washington and Ohio State games. I’ll see what I can do the rest of the season.

I mean I get it....the gushing over the opponent when they beat you (or in Izzo's case lavishing CBJ with compliments after spanking us) is one thing, but Cronin sure took some shots at the Gophers. "Oldest team in the country"..."not an NCAA team" "their careers are coming to an end" "Garcia only goes left or is wide open" "Patterson is strictly a downhill player"....yikes. How about complimenting a guy (Garcia) who just outscored your team by himself in the second half??? SMH
That was 100% directed at his own players, he was calling them out without saying their names. Based on the couple of interviews of Cronin's I have seen this year it is pretty clear they have a really toxic locker room full of "me first" players as opposed to good team guys.

Cronin making it clear that his players were told what to do they just didn't do it. For a team with NCAA aspirations you can't lose a game like that at home.

Sounds like you know exactly what you need to do.....just don't watch :)

Woke up, checked my phone and said to myself, "what the hell". Went I went to bed we were trailing by 10. Genuinely shocked we won this game.
It was 29-12 and I turned the game off, took the dog for a walk, did some other stuff, checked the score on my phone as an afterthought as I headed off to bed. It was 35-31, early in the second. So much for sleep. Great game!

I really wish they had played even remotely like this earlier in the year.

Great win now let’s take care of business the rest of the way including taking down a Badger! Finishing 5-0 would be amazing but certainly possible.

Like some others, I fell asleep. UCLA was up by 6. Thought - solid effort, Gophers, but a bridge too far. Woke up at 12:30, checked for final score, went "WTH!" Awesome feeling. Other than sleeping through it.

Geez, beat North Texas, Dont choke against Ohio State and beat Washington and were 17-9 and 8-7 in BIG. Woulda, coulda, shoulda i know, but would have made a nice finish for the season.
Keep thinking the same thing myself. Oh well, let’s finish strong and make a run in the tournament! Go Gophers!

One way or another, I think we've diagnosed the problem.

We are a mediocre team overall but we have one of the best individual players in college basketball on our team and when he plays like he did last night we can be a dangerous team.

The same team that just knocked off USC and UCLA on the road could easily turn around and lose to Penn State and Northwestern at home.

The good news is that we look very likely to qualify for the Big Ten tournament and we are a scary team to go up against in a single elimination format because we have a guy like Garcia who can play out of his mind at times and be a matchup nightmare for most teams when he does.

There was nothing questionable about that charge. Patterson beat him to the spot and the offensive player used his arm to try and clear space. That was great defense by Patterson, he knew right where the UCLA guy wanted to go and he beat him there.
I honestly love watching a heady, important defensive play when your team needs a stop as much as I enjoy watching a spectacular dunk. I know a lot of people think defensive basketball is boring. If it's strictly a matter of horrible offensive execution, then I guess it can be, but when a team is working like a unit and playing great defense (or even if it's just one guy making a great play), it's entertaining to me.

Right there with you. Our squad is definitely offensively challenged at times but defense has been pretty solid all year and last night the defense kept the game close enough to allow for the comeback.

The plays by Patterson at both ends were clutch at the end of the game.
