Odukale scored nothing, Asuma had nothing, Mitchell had 4 pts and only 2 boards and we came out with a win. You wan't the statement Garcia game you got it. He's getting drafted.
 

Cronin went on that rant earlier in the year, but only had himself to blame for this one. His team was cruising and he decided to go to that 2 big lineup in the first half and the offense got stagnant which lead the Gophers to cutting the lead all the way to 8. UCLA never really made a run from that point forward.

the only question was whether the ref would make the right call. great defense, probably great scouting and coaching in the timeout.
i didn't trust the refs to make the right call after - i think- the first play after our first lead, UCLA runs a pick n roll up top and the screener pushes off and the Gopher defender gets doubled over with the push to the back and there was no call.

Bruin Postgame...

Not sure how the postgame link will line up...but:

Cronin was really testy, darn near getting in an argument with interviewer...players weren't focused on gameplan, free throws etc.

That Garcia half was fantastic. Every time the Gophers got it down to a one possession game, UCLA would score immediately. Never felt like a win was possible, but a much more competitive game than expected...then UCLA absolutely couldn't make a free throw. They said they finished 9-19, but that had to include missing the front end at least twice. Patterson with the game winner going hard to the basket again after going hard against USC and picking up the foul.

Back to Dawson, he's having the best season of any Gopher in a long, long time. I really hope he gets drafted and gets paid.

All right....time to call it a night.....but damn that was fun.....was enjoying the battle but didn't really think they would be able to pull it off again and get all the way back. So glad I was wrong!

Is what it is.....looking very likely that we will get into the BTT at this point which is great considering it wasn't long ago we were sitting at 0-6 and looking like the season was quickly going off the rails.

I still think the team ultimately falls short of their goals and a coaching change happens but great to see the guys busting their ass and playing hard night in and night out.

I hope he does. Crazy that he went to the draft camp after his Freshman year and is still in college all these years later. Odukale didn't score, but we relied on him heavily to handle the ball.

Call in show highlights:

Old guy calls in and says this was the worst free throw shooting he's seen and he's been watching since Wooden (though he acknowledges Wooden had some bad free throw shooters). Finishes his call by yelling about someone (I assume the UCLA AD) letting the Pac 12 fall apart.

Old woman calls in and suggests Cronin have a late night slumber party where the guys have to shoot free throws and they can't go to bed until they hit 10 in a row.

Another fan mentions how small and dead the crowd was and that Minnesota fans were making more noise even when they were down.

Any of this sound familiar?

I mean I get it....the gushing over the opponent when they beat you (or in Izzo's case lavishing CBJ with compliments after spanking us) is one thing, but Cronin sure took some shots at the Gophers. "Oldest team in the country"..."not an NCAA team" "their careers are coming to an end" "Garcia only goes left or is wide open" "Patterson is strictly a downhill player"....yikes. How about complimenting a guy (Garcia) who just outscored your team by himself in the second half??? SMH

Blaming the home crowd for going aww after a missed free throw. How about cheering for them? I’m not sure why you would cheer a missed free throw.
