Garcia is a slick scorer but doesn't play team ball and can't defend in the post. There is no offensive plan that I can see. Our coach is like an NPC out there- just nothing.

Yep. Ben wants to win now so he doesn't get fired, but Edmunds is a rare non-senior. Play him.
 


It's sad. Because if last years team stayed together, this year would have been one to look forward to. I don't even really fault Johnson as a coach/ X and O guy, etc. It is how he can't keep a roster together. I know the portal and all that, but after his coaching tenure started terribly, then last season looked like they had something and POOF, they are all gone. He should have been fired a few days after season when all these defections took place. Keep that team even remotely together and this year they'd have probably ranked in the top 25 preseason, undefeated so far and everyone happy.
 

Last night’s performance is a great example why they keep the bottle caps from your pop.. dreadful..

The problem with Mitchell is purely his size. The guy gives great effort but is not a quick leaper and appears to be close to 6-6 not 6-8 or 6-9. While his sheer strength made him a great rebounder in a lower division, as we could see last night- it just doesn't translate in the Big Ten where you have 6-11 bigs who are 250 pounds and they can generally get up in the air as well.

Hard to say what Betts has to offer with the way Ben manages the game. I would have at least tried a bigger lineup instead of the 3 guard/bricklayers and Garcia + Frank/Edmunds/Fox.

Maybe the bricklayers would actually improve if Ben had offensive sets?

Asuma is the only true PG on the team. He is pretty responsible with the ball and distributes it. Why he does not start and come out for a breather at the mid point of each half is also puzzling. He will check in 4-6 minutes into each half and play to the end. If they were in a tight game late, his legs would be gone when they need his energy the most.

Ben is incapable and unwilling to strategize. He is nothing more than an assistant coach. He has no long term vision and fails to develop his players.
 

Anyone at the game see or hear Lucye Patterson’s dad belittle Asuma? There was a confrontation between Patterson’s dad and I assume Asuma’s father during the game. Patterson’s father was complaining that Asuma played more minutes than Lucye. He needs to look at the +/- and realize that Lucye was the worst on the team.

I don't get that at all. Patterson has had some nice games but he is not a point guard. Mitchell and Asuma are the only ones that should be Hàndling the ball.

This chart would say Patterson should not be shooting the ball (look at EFG - effective FG%). He has nice assist and turnover percentages - Asuma does not.

Patterson’s dad harps every game about how well his son played or needing to talk to Ben when Lucye is not playing a lot of minutes. Prime example, we beat Omaha soundly and his dad, after the game, said that they didn’t come here to sit on the bench. He’s a clown and only cares about the kid’s stats versus the team’s success.

If Ben has any guts/nuts, he will start Asuma at point and have Lucye come off the bench as the third or fourth guard. Just my opinion!

After that, you're just stirring up hearsay. Give us a legitimate reason to believe what you are claiming.
 




If Ben really cared about the U, he would resign now in order to allow the Adm./Coyle to. start the hiring process. Instead of waiting for the end of the season.

Johnson had a good team. But 3 returning starters became valuable commodities...so they left.

What's he supposed to do...give them 2 dollars and 3 Rice Krispies box-tops?

Patterson should be charged with an additional 20 turnovers for shot clock violations initiated by him pounding the basketball into the ground. He was better last night. He is strong with the ball though...
