Official 2025 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Really surprised this has been the only post bowl game transfer so far. might still be coming but thought there would be more.
I agree: I would have thought 5-6 would have announced so far.I think one of the WR’s leaves

I think you’re referring to McWilliams, but two if you count previously departed Hoskins. I think the rest stick around.
2 have left, 2 graduating, 5 coming in including transfers and freshman. I wouldn't be shocked if 1 more decided to leave. Could see Driver or Williams if they feel they've been passed in Spring ball.

I was thinking Driver maybe. Only played a few snaps in the bowl game.

One wr already left.
Yep, I think another might leave, seems like we brought in one really established player and a couple other. I was honestly wondering about Driver, I saw he only played 11 snaps in the bowl game, but its pure speculation....

At this point looking like the roster will be pretty stable until spring ball. Some guys probably waiting to see how things shake out depth wise with the new guys before making decisions.

Williams
Coleman
Lanier
Hayes
Tracy
Loya
Brockington
Driver

These would be the top 8 in line for action this year IMO. I think we definitely see a lot of Brockington and Loya. Outside of that it will be really interesting how things shake out. Driver didn’t do a ton this year, but is still pretty young. I guess I’d bet on Tracy being the third guy to get to major snaps, but translating production from the MAC to the B1G can be tricky. Hayes and Lanier look ready to contribute. Coleman and Williams are really the wild cards with their talent. Basically we have a long list of guys we’d be happy to plug in as WR 3, hopefully a #1 and #2 emerge. Some of the young guys will need to remain patient or yes we could see someone else transfer out. Maybe this year we rotate more guys in at WR.

I understand why they do it, but still....

in all of these portal announcements, the player goes on about how he loves the school, his teammates and his coaches. and then he announces that he's leaving.

just strikes me as ironic.

Not that much different than a lot of divorces one reads about where the one spouse says "I love you, but I just can't live with you."

I'm not a cynic, but a lot these announcements strike me as "Sorry. Not Sorry." I frankly don't know why some of the players who enter the portal even bother to tweet about it.

A lot of kids see the writing on the wall with transfers coming in that have already been productive. A majority of them only have 3 or 4 years left to play football, Then they’re done FOREVER.

They can love the team and coaches all they want, but going somewhere a bit smaller and actually playing is more attractive then watching your last years of football eligibility fly by on the sideline.

Ding, ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!

Just the times we live in with social media. They are hollow and pointless but they have become the norm as well.

Are you saying you don't believe them?

I'm saying I don't see the point. If you want to announce that you are entering the portal, it just takes one sentence: "I am entering the transfer portal."

simple, short and to the point.
You, of all people, telling anybody to be simple, short, and to the point is absolutely hilarious.

You don't see the point in being grateful and polite?
This. They are hollow and pointless but there is nothing wrong with them. It is essentially a form letter at this point with a few names changed each time. I don't bother to read them but nothing hurt by posting them.

I think the OP was referring to all the platitudes the players post, not the actual event of transferring.,

It's really strange not seeing Daniel Jackson on that list. He's been such a stabilizing player at WR for this program and a consistent producer. He'll be missed for sure.

For a lot of these kids, I don't think they see it as a divorce, I think a number of them see it similarly to graduating college or HS. They have to move on for better opportunities (whether it's playing time, more money, etc.).

You make a post like that and then don't even get his name right. Sigh. It's "DANIEL".

Sucks to lose Bryson but not unexpected considering the emergence of Perich. Bummer on a local kid in Owusu too but I'd imagine there were better options on the roster.

Surprised Bryson is leaving....he has played all three years. Played in most every game in 2024.
He's got 3 years left to play.
