Official 2015 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

Do you realize how many HS football players there are? There are only so many hours in the day. They can't evaluate all of them. Why would they evaluate someone if they don't have a compelling reason to do so? I will never understand why so many of you guys get your panties in a twist over the recruiting services.

Its why i consider ESPN the least reliable of the big 4 as on rivals all 3 of our commits had evaluations before committing and the Huff twins had evaluations on the other two as well. ESPN rarely evaluates even mid 3 star players and below until they commit or after senior season. Also do a terrible job of keeping track of offers. I do really like ESPN's grading system though being the most precise, thats why i look at it.

Dude, are you really calling me out about being high strung?

I don't really want to argue with you. But I was just stating an opinion about what I think about some of the evaluations given by these sites.

If you want to call somebody out about that, than I think it is probably you that has their "panties in a twist" this time.

BTW, I do appreciate what you have bring to this board a lot of the time. But, I do think you get carried away some of the time.

I like you as a poster. Please don't confuse that. I'm explaining to you why it is silly to base your appraisal of the quality of an evaluation on the timing of the evaluation, as you did above. I'm sorry if you took offense.

Go Gophers!!

Apparently Potter doesn't actually have a Minnesota offer. This happens every year where there's some kids out there who make up offers.

No worries. I just found it peculiar is all.
I am a laid back kinda guy after all.

Thanks for the apology all the same.

Archbishop Hoban offensive lineman Ted Stieber verbally commits to Minnesota

“I’ve always liked Minnesota,” said Stieber, who has cousins and an uncle who attended Minnesota and still live there. “When I had the opportunity to play football there, it was a no-brainer for me.”

“I really like the coaching staff and the players,” Stieber said. “They all seem to get along really well. They all have a common goal of winning, and have gotten better over the three years Coach Kill has been there.”

Bronson Dovich and the Huff twins just got evaluations by espn. Jacob has a grade of 76 and the #44 S, Julian has a grade of 75 and is the #26 ILB and Bronson has a grade of 74 and is the #88 OT. 79 is the highest grade a 3 star can get and 70 is the lowest a 3 star can get.

I credit this to the Gopher bump. Nobody elevates two and three star recruits like we do. :cool02:

per Sid:

• The Gophers football team received its fourth commitment for the 2015 class in tackle Ted Stieber of Archbishop Hoban High School out of Akron, Ohio. Stieber, who has played tackle, guard and center in high school, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he had cousins and an uncle who went to Minnesota and that it was a “no-brainer” to play for coach Jerry Kill.

#20 dual threat QB on 247. Listed at 6-6 on his hudl which is Nike sparq verified. Does not have an offer.

Great looking dual threat QB that will look good in a Gopher uni! We may be in a stiff competition if Iowa, Illinois, and MSU come calling.

Croft is from the same city (Rockford IL) that Coach Anderson is from. Gotta think that helps our chances. His throwing motion needs work, he short arms his throws and it almost looks like he hops when he releases the ball, but we don't have any QB with that combination of size and speed on the roster.

The last thing I care about with a QB is how fast he is. I want to know how fast and well he can make a read. I want to know how accurate and strong his arm is. I don't think we need a QB who can run its nice but we really need one who can throw the rock.

Just wondering what the talk/status is on Roseville WR Jesper Horstad. Might be more of a PWO kinda guy but I loved what I saw of him last year. Watched him tear up Maple Grove in The Bank last fall in the 6A state semi's i believe? (maybe section finals i can't remember) Great size, good hands and route running IMO. Seems like a talented MN kid we would like to stay home and take a shot at playing for Jerry.

Ski-U-Mah!

Unless of course he needs to fit this coaching staff's strategy/system.

The coaching staff disagrees with you. And if a QB can rush for over 1,000 yards in a season or close too it i'd consider that more than "nice" or a luxury.

Sources indicate that Rockford (Ill.) Boylan quarterback Demry Croft impressed Jerry Kill and his coaching staff on Sunday at the Gophers camp.

Ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 20 dual-threat quarterback, the 6-foot-5, 187-pound Croft should find out on Monday if he’s Minnesota’s guy at the signal-caller position in 2015. The Crystal Ball is already anticipating an offer as the Gophers have picked up six predictions in less than 24 hours.

Kansas City (Kan.) Piper linebacker/fullback Colton Beebe did enough to leave Minnesota’s camp with an offer and the Gophers immediately became the favorite to land his signature.

Columbus (Ind.) East running back Markell Jones also turned in a strong showing and should know by the end of the week if Minnesota will be offering him. All 12 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions currently read for Purdue, but the Gophers were an offer Jones definitely wanted to try and earn and a full-ride from Kill could be a game-changer in his recruitment. If Minnesota doesn’t go on Jones, he could be a Boiler sooner rather than later.

Minnesota has four commits in the class-of-2015 and are in line to land No. 5 when Red Wing (Minn.) Senior offensive tackle/defensive end Nick Connelly returns to campus on Tuesday. He was offered last week and the Minnesota forecasts quickly followed
