There's gotta be a Juco safety in this class, right?

I would think so considering Duke McGhee is the only scholarship safety that's an underclassman, unless Croney ends up at safety. Charlie Rogers looks like a strong possibility from Iowa Western CC.

I saw Croney at spring practice, looked like a cb to me.

Was scrolling through the Nebraska board (sigh, I have no life) and found this anecdote on Schmidt:

Nautical Neb Fan said:
Just returned from a weekend visit to Sioux Falls. Ended up at a "social gathering" talking football with the guys and a Roosevelt HS Coach was there. Engaged him on Grant Schmidt and he felt he was a Minnesota lean at present. Informed me that their HS AD had worked in the Southern Illinois Athletic Dept previously with Jerry Kill and that they were both in close contact regarding Schmidt. Kill/Minn is big on Schmidt and in strong pursuit. When I brought up the fact he must have considerable interest in NU due to the amount of visits he's made the coach told me Grant had felt snubbed by one of the coaches during last visit. We got to talking about "slow rolling" players and so forth; I told him NU was not doing anything they have not done with some popular in state Neb kids. NU would likely clear things up by BRW and that NU can be AND should be more selective than MINN. Take FWIW his "inside" take, but I did confirm with others his coach credentials. I hope if we offer, Grant jumps onboard. I hate to get into a habit of losing kids in our backyard to Minn as distance is essentially equal. But we are NU and that should be near blasphemy. GBR!

From two months ago but interesting nonetheless.

Kind of confirms what we've been seeing.

Excerpts from the video, if you can't/don't want to watch:

- Minnesota and Ohio St. are tied for #1
- He will make his decision no later than August
- He could make a decision today if it feels right

So ol' Ger decides to present the worst case scenario, and even that isn't accurate.

Gerry, I'm tired of your all-knowing s-hit, and your inability to perform basic mathematics. This is slander of the gopher program and you know it.

He uses scout numbers that have the huffs NR and Dovich 2 star.

If he would use the only service that has rated all the players we have a 2.66 avg. He saw it and decided to go with Scout anyway. Curious.

Even rivals that has one player NR thus far yields a 2.0 avg.

I'm fairly positive that he's paid by Scout to post those, because Scout is all he ever uses.

What's your feeling on Schmidt, Dpo? I'll take it as a good sign he didn't commit on the spot down there.

Edit: didn't realize he was visiting today as well.

That can't be true since he use all three service's rankings, so...

People get mad at me when I say it, but I don't think he's coming here. Down in that corner of the state, where most all of the Division I-caliber players in SD come from, Nebraska football is king. If his OSU offer is committable, I think he goes there, and if not, I could see him working/waiting/hold out for a Nebraska offer. If he can't commit to OSU and the Nebraska offer doesn't come, I could see him commit here before school starts in the fall.

On the Big Ten signing day special they brought Allen Trieu in from Scout. I don't think he is using it just to screw us over unless he references other sites for other team rankings.

Let me clarify - whenever he mentions individual player rankings/offer lists/height/weight, etc., it always comes from Scout and only Scout. At least that's the way he has done it in the past - it might be different now.

It seems like Nebraska slow played him for too long and he lost his interest. They definitely would be #1 if they offered a month or two ago but i don't think they would be if they did offer him soon especially with Grant deciding no later than August. I agree that the big question is if the offer is committable but even then it seems like Schmidt is not their top priority on the O-line.

Do you feel his tweet serves any useful purpose or is truthful? Perhaps he could have, you know, made the observation that " of rated players MN has x avg". That would require actual analysis from Gerry. From what I've seen he is a collator and regurgitator of popular opinion.

You were ripped because you have no inside information and have claimed he probably isn't coming here, even though he has visited us 5-6 times and had said we were his leader.

And I'm pretty sure whenever BTN discusses rankings and things like that on their recruiting shows, it's Scout stuff, if I'm not mistaken. There's some kind of deal there, no doubt.

DiNardo does mention the other two rankings in passing, but Scout is definitely the "go-to" for more detailed info. I'm assuming there's a contract there.

Not trying to disagree with you or anything but that is changing imo from people i've heard of. MN popularity is growing there in part because of Kill's attitude and in part because of on the field success. And that win over Neb definitely doesn't hurt.
