His dad is the assistant head coach and D-coordinator at Ohio University. His dad and two brothers all played at Nebraska.

The Gophers aren’t holding their breath.

They would like to sign Drayton Carlberg, an offensive tackle from Minneapolis De La Salle who has offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Oregon, etc. But before long, the Gophers are going to want to know if they’re in or out. And if they’re out, they’ll move on.

The same goes for Sioux Falls, S.D., offensive tackle Grant Schmidt, who also has an Ohio State offer. From all accounts, the Gophers still appear to be in very good position to land Schmidt, but Kill isn’t going to beg.

He wants players who are hungry and determined to keep turning around a program that has improved from 3-9 to 6-7 to 8-5 in his three seasons.

He wouldn't give any hints but it's not Jones related. He said we probably won't know anything on that for a week or two at least. All he said was that Minnesota is happy. I'm guessing it's a silent verbal, just a hunch.

Yes, but Ryan is plugged in and the best follower of Gopher recruiting out there. I won't doubt him at all. We have our first recruit! About time.

I'm not doubting him at all. I'm a big fan of his work. Give us some info Ryan. The Gopher football faithful wanna know.
 





I think it's fun how he does this. He did it last year wih Jeff Jones and I think he might have another time. It's a good way to get interest up and sell subscriptions (and the speculation on Gopherhole is kind of fun too). But I respect that he keeps quiet until the recruit wants to make an announcement himself.

I can imagine being a recruit you would want to announce it yourself rather than let it leak.

Marketing, obviously. Now we are going to be paying more attention to him over the next week or two, looking for any tidbit. His job is to drum up his following and hopefully get people to buy some GI subscriptions.

I remember when they tried that stick with GH. I was very happy we decided to stay an open forum for anyone to join. You don't get 1/10th the visitors from other teams on GI.

Great to see Minnesota Preps continue to pick up FBS interest. After Cornell, Carlberg, and Dovich, here is what the top players look like based on offers:

Seems odd that after a pretty successful year we have no verbals and it is almost June.
 

You'd have to look, but we were at a similar point last year. Gophers camps are right around the corner and they are offering guys with multiple BCS offers.

According to Ryan Burns, we have had a commit for almost a week. He's waiting for the go ahead to announce it.
