Official 2014 Seat Renewals, Relocations and New Season Ticket Holders Thread

I've given up trying to move. Tried to move twice and would have had to move closer to the end zone.

I actually got closer to midfield by a section and only had to move back a row from 8 to 9. Maybe I just got lucky.

Are you referring to in prior years? I thought we couldn't upgrade yet?

Just renewed as well and can't wait for football season!

We are anxious for another Gopher season. Its very hard to imagine not being at TCF on gameday in spite of the long drive.

We may consider jumping to the $100 donation seats if its the right situation.

I received the notice a week ago about price increase and the upcoming official renewal statement. For those that have renewed did you receive an official renewal email?

Received a small package from the university. Letter from Teague about the season accompanied by a DVD with the 2013 Brick by Brick Series. I don't think I saw every episode......plus it will be neat to watch on a bigger screen with surround.

Good question. No, I did not receive an e-mail but did get the Teague letter and DVD. I called the tix office and the person I spoke to confirmed they did not send me an e-mail and didn't know why? They transferred me to someone who handles these things and we have exchanged voice-mail messages. Clearly, the U is trying to be responsive but get the word out to other season tix holders to call if they did not get an e-mail.

Of course, there is the real possibility that JoeD and I were the only ones left off the distribution list in an effort to get rid of us. If so, HA! It's going to take a lot more than that to run us out of TCF! I renewed all four of my tix today.

Go Gophers!

I like my current seats ok but I would be interested in getting better seats. If I go through the process of upgrading my seats and I don't like the available options better will I be able to keep my current seats? or once I start the upgrade process do I lose my seats?

thanks,

You will not lose your seats. They will call you with options and if you don't like any of them, you get to keep your current seats. It doesn't hurt to ask.

You keep them. They'll call you and discuss your options. If you don't like them (or you don't answer the phone) you keep your seats.

Cool! I haven't gotten mine yet -- did anyone else get this DVD yet?

I received mine yesterday - tried to play it a few minutes ago and my DVD player won't read the disc. I have a newer blu-ray and it's never had any issues. Then tried it on my other non blu-ray and still nothing. Go f'ing figure.

We were at the top of 103 last year, and we're hoping to move into 113-115 area. I am guessing demand is pretty high in 113-115 though.

It should be a fun season and I'm looking forward to a road game or two as well.

I'm in middle of section 105. Have been since the place opened. I like the location and the crowd around us. Very energetic. Close to the beer and easy in-out of the stadium. Also get a good view of the scoreboard and we're in the sun. The only place i'd want to move is to the open end zone. Those people look like they're having a blast. I'd maybe move to 107 if the option is available but that's just one section over.

I have no interest in paying a premimum to sit with the people that won't stand.

I have a relatively new blu-ray player and it worked for me.

I had no problems with mine in my Blu-Ray player. They probably read GH and found out you were dropping your season tickets and sent you a sh!tty one.

I agree with all of this, Pewter! I have 6 in section 103 since TCF opened and we fully enjoy the people that sit around us. The core group that sits in front and behind us have been there since the stadium opened so it is always a fun group a great to see them year after year. Also, a second to the non-standing people.

I think who you sit around you makes a big difference in your season ticket experience. There is a gentleman in Section 109 or 110 maybe half way up that is always standing and giving the First Down signal. He was also at the Northwestern road game doing the same thing. You need a straw to stir the drink in some sections.

After thought and debate, my ticket partner and I will be renewing. Dropping two seats due to funds being tight, so no more chances of bringing guests. Planning on moving to the bench seats too. Had too much fun a the games last season to totally skip out.

Go to the subsidized sporting events.

you are going to pay $20 less per seat for no seat back? that nuts.

I recommend STH offset the increase in cost by attending the subsidized events...Womens Hockey Playoffs this Saturday 5 dollars a seat. you read that right 5 dollars a seat.

Good point.

Just catching up on some of this. I'm pretty surprised how many people prefer the visitor's side. I get the sunshine aspect, but I enjoy being on the home sideline. When it's hot, you get shade. When it's as cold as it was during last year's Wisconsin game it doesn't matter where you're sitting.

Does anyone remember when the actual relocation/upgrade process starts?

As a guy who has sat on both sides, but has his season tix on the sunny side, I can tell you that on some Fall days in the right temp range, the shade side is like the dark side of the moon. 20 degree temp swing, easy. I recall a couple of games where it was like 45 in the shade, and approaching 70 in the sun. On those days, basically the shade side receives no direct sun from sun up to 11am, and it's a frigid area by comparison. But that's just my own personal recollection.

Others may remember differently or more accurately than myself, but I think it starts in early May.

The renewal deadline is April 18th and then, I think, it's a couple of weeks before they start contacting Tier 1 for the shuffle. I think the whole process takes about a month to complete...from Tier 1 through the last Tier.

Agree with this entire post. I can attest to the same situation for myself as well having season tickets on the visitors side but have sat on the home side for two games.

Yup. I have had four seats since the stadium opened. Two seats on the home side and two on the visitor's side. If given the choice, I always opt for the visitor side except for maybe one or two games since they started playing at TCF.

I am sure this has been asked before, but does anyone know when they start calling on the renewal process? I believe it was shortly after the closing date for paying for your tickets. I am trying to remember when I got my call last year, but I can not. Must be getting old.

Front row second deck on the sunny side. Best of all worlds!

I like the home side of the field. I'm glad so many people like the visitor side. In fact, I wouldn't mind if I am the only one that prefers the home side. There are certainly games where the visitor side, in the sun, is more comfortable. I don't doubt that for a second. But, as I see it I think those games are limited. First, you get at least a game or two where the temps are super warm already and you have to put up with the sun beating on your face for an entire game. Some of my most uncomfortable football watching over my lifetime (thinking back to my MIAC days) has been in early season games, sweating it out and getting sun burned. Then as the seasonal change picks up speed in October, you also get a lot of cloudy days. I'm not sure what the percentage of cloudy day games there have been at TCF but either way... the temp is the same everywhere on a cloudy day. And finally, my mom's advice from my childhood regarding cold vs hot always rings true: when you are in public, you can always put more clothes on but you can only take so much clothes off.

I enjoy having the field faced my way, the band faced my way, and my perspective of the game matching TV. And, I get uncomfortably warm more easily than I get uncomfortably cold. Add it all together and these things factor higher for me personally than one or two games during a season where it would be more comfortable on the north side of the stadium.

I received a call today. I'm not a season ticket holder but I think they think I am because I got the Brick by Brick DVD in the mail with a letter from Teague. I've bought the Pick A Packs the last 2 years, the Rep said those go on sale in July.
