Profile on Ragnow from Chanhassen Villager: The center of attention

Minnesota has targeted Ragnow for the better part of the past 12 months after he attended their summer camp. He even got a one-on-one meeting in Coach Jerry Kill's office, which brought upon his first official offer.

"He took me into his office and we talked and I didn't even know that he had offered me. They invited my dad and I back a couple of weeks later and we met with the offensive line coach and he was telling the players that I was offered. My dad looked at me, and we were like, 'really?' That was a cool one because it was my first offer," Ragnow said.

He isn't saying whether he's leaning one way or another, but he hopes to make the decision soon. Maybe even in the next two weeks before the start of the season. He said the decision will come when "it comes to me. It might be after the season, too."

Go Gophers!!

I think that's a shame. I know there's a risk of injury but he'll never get that chance again.

Apparently he has a stress fracture that's been bothering him. I'm sure that was a factor in his decision.

GopherHole Q&A: Champlin TE Matt Juneau Hopes to Follow in Father's Footsteps and Play for the Gophers

http://www.gopherhole.com/news_article/show/278256?referrer_id=388419

Juneau should think about trying to shine at offensive tackle or defensive tackle. I know kids that size want the ball in there hands and to be on offense but defense is where someone with his length and speed would likely get a shot. At his size and weight a 4.9 forty time might get you on the field and possibly a scholarship offer as a left tackle or even under tackle on D.
Just don't see it as a Tight end.

Gopher Hole: Are most schools looking at you strictly as a tight end or would they look at you at a different position?

Matthew Juneau: Most of them are looking at tight end. A few are looking at tackle.

Gopher Hole: Do you think that because of your size, that based on maturing and eating and getting stronger that you would probably project to being more of an offensive lineman than a tight end down the road?

Matthew Juneau: I could definitely see it the way that I have been growing lately, but ideally, I would play tight end in college and not tackle.

Would love to see him realize his dream and play for the Gophers. If he wants to be a tight end, I think the staff would give him the opportunity to prove that he can play at this level, as long as he understands that a position move might be best for both his development and the team. 'Shede came here as a tight end too.

Has HopherGole ever written anything positive? I don't always look closely at who posts what but it seems he's always on the negative side.

okay okay. I have been pretty negative lately. My apologies. On the Jones issue, I've heard from very reliable sources that it wouldn't be unlikely for him to decommit. Right now they (he and family) are chasing bigger offers before the season starts. In my estimation, the U is his back-up plan.

I don't mean to burst any bubbles on him. The truth is I truly hope he IS a gopher and takes us to a B1G championship, but I've heard way too many negatives to believe it.

On a slightly unrelated topic, is our staff in a non-contact period right now? Twitter has been vacant of any updates on offers or new recruits. I frequent the top local prospects as well and I haven't heard anything.

How many other schools has Jones visited? How many other visits does he have scheduled?

The Juneau kid is an interesting prospect. Not many kids with that size (especially those who play TE) with that kind of speed. Curious to see what kind of season he has. Sounds like a bit of a sleeper, but a kid who could develop. Always great to keep the best kids home.

Almost all of, if not all of, the B1G. Word is he likes Iowa and Iowa State a lot. I've heard he's planning official visits to SEC schools this fall.

Good player and his dad is a former gopher player too. Probably a PWO. Wasn't the top TE at the senior day this summer.

Maybe not unlikely....but did the reliable source say it was likely? I will wait until he re-thinks his commitment before assuming anything.

Coaches and recruits are all focused on preparing for their upcoming college/high school seasons...

PiPress: Prep football: Gaelin Elmore survives rocky road to find home in Somerset, Wis.

"Coach Kill watched his highlights and said how refreshing it was that he watched it for five or six minutes and there were no receptions," Larson said. "It was all about athletic blocking. He just dominates people."

Elmore said Kill was thrilled with his commitment.

"Every time I go over (to the Minnesota campus), my faith in the commitment just gets deeper," he said.

Go Gophers!!

The life of Gaelin Elmore is another amazing story of a kid that football has been a godsend. No wonder Kill has often said football save lives. Somehow they seem to find Kill or Kill finds them. Amazing!

Frank Ragnow is sporting a Gopher shirt at the Chaska game. Unfortunately some kid told him to go to FSU.
