Official 2013 Class Recruiting Updates Thread

That tells me enough right there. Think about why a kid would choose Iowa City?

Meth?
He wants to blow out his knee?
He wants to get in trouble with the law and get kicked off the team?
He wants to transfer after 1-2 years like half the Iowa team has been doing lately?
Or he wants to run DJK's old drug house?

And you "think" this why? I think he is Iowa City bound but just curious why you're dogging the kid, he would be a great pick up.
He doesn't want to be distracted by attractive women for the next 4-5 years?

Is Andre in trouble, are Harbison & Jones not quite the same after their injuries that the Gophers are possibly looking at three WRs in this recruiting class? Somebody on this board keeps tabs on the depth chart, I am not so sure if we are deep enough or if it just Kill buying insurance.

Just trying to add talent I think.

A walk-on was far and away our best receiver last year, and he's gone. A walk-on was probably our second best receiver too. Andre and Harbison mean something as far as recruiting goes, but as players, everyone is a question mark at that position.

Agree. In the era of pass-happy football, even a coach who stresses the running game like Kill knows he needs to have speed and talent at the WR position.

Yep with all the question marks we have at the WR position the more the merrier. Right now we don't have any established weapons at that position and there is a lot of uncertainty in the guys we do have. Right now I don't look at anything as settled at the receiver position.

This underscores the importance of a good PWO program. High ***s & ****s rating may look good in recruiting press. It is not a guarantee that a kid can perform to expectations immediately. Some require reaching a maturity level. Others just need more time in the developmental program. Obviously, there are can't miss blue chipper studs.

I like how Coach Kill looks to reload each recruiting season to put the best players on the field. Five years into his his tenure is when I think we can judge him fairly. I honestly can't wait to see how the massive OL develop and how well the running game will be in the next two seasons.

Are you saying Hayo Carpenter did not pan out for us as a 4*....

Yeah, he turned out to be a real stud for Brewster.

Other than Tedric, who is doing an official with the Gophers this weekend?

Vandy just lost a 4* RB to decommitment so he probably sees a pretty good opportunity.

Yep. Don't forget he is a FL kid. How has Kill been doing lately in FL? Vandy even plays UF in his hometown. SEC vs. B1G. Kill vs. Franklin. Vandy private school bling vs. U. Sorry, game over.

Any other RBs on the board?

You really love to speak in absolutes, don't you? Vanderbilt, the program who has been an absolute joke from eternity up until the last 2 years, is now going to go wherever it wants and dictate terms? Vandy "private school bling"? What the hell does that even mean? Yeah, Duke really tears sh1t up on the recruiting trail with all of their "private school bling". What a stupid post. I don't know why you picked the last few weeks to start posting, but I wish you'd go back to lurking.

You have a very black and white view of recruiting. Kid's don't always choose the school that on paper seems better. Chances are high that he goes to Vandy, but to say game over when the kid hasn't given any indication yet is unwise.

Damn Harbison must have missed the memo.

Suprised that UNLV isn't getting a bunch of MN kids this year ;)

By saying he could play in his hometown means he won't be red-shirted and will make the travel team as a true freshmen. If these where the items that were important to a recruit, I don't think I'd keep recruiting him.

Webb said that he was pretty mad about the way Vandy handled their recruiting of him but he had to check out his options. We are far from out of this thing.

I was going at the SEC vs. B1G. Kill vs. Franklin. Vandy private school bling vs. U. angle but Iseewhatyoudidthere.

Spearman Iowa City bound? Doubt it. I bet he sticks with his Illinois verbal or Syracuse flips him this weekend.

I think he's Iowa or Illinois. Cuse is so late to the party, would be surprising.

Does anyone know which team had an in home visit with Reggie Spearman yesterday. He tweeted that he just had the worst in home visit ever and that it made him mad seeing how fake his parents were being.

Andre McDonald must've missed your memo, too!

I saw that, he said it wasn't Cuse, and I didn't hear anything about Kill being there. I did see something about Kill visiting an sec commit last night, I'm guessing maybe Jones again?
