Niko’s roster construction

I don't expect my preferred, romantic version of college hoops will ever return and I'm not sure Portal shopping will come close to filling that void. I'm still excited about getting the best players we can, though. Winning would help.
There's clearly a balance. Unless or until things change with the portal, you have to play the game to be on the game. Fleck adapted quickly.

You may want to find a lower level D2 or D3 school to cheer for then. Those days are over, you are likely to have a minimum of 50% roster turnover most every year at D1.

I'm looking forward to seeing a team that is prepared to start the season in shape and with a clear understanding of their role in the offense and defense! I feel like the past few seasons the team took a really long time to figure that out, in some cases I felt like there were players that never fully understood their role on the team.
I think that is the goal, but it takes time to build a culture. There will be expectations, but no players that have played under those expectations (to reinforce the message). So, I think the first year will have more structure, but it will get better the next year.

Don’t worry. It’s already happening. If they don’t kill the no-sit transfer, it’s over - the best days are behind.

Back in 1984, I had a $115 pair of Brooks high tops, which was quite a lot of money at the time. The shoes blew out in the Region 3 Championship game and instead of blowing more major coin, I rocked Chucky Ts at the state tourney. They were easier to break in.

For the thread, Rigsby went portaling, guess his meeting with Niko was less than what he expected.

Construction will consist of 5-6 starter quality players, probably another 2-4 rotation players, 2-3 with experience that might have to play if injuries mount. and 2-3 projects or development players.

I think it's over. The moment they started seeing it through the lens of a "restraint on trade", it was over because it's almost impossible to undo. Because of the NIL rulings, it has become exponentially more and more like a normal job. While it might have been a close call initially, it's not a close call anymore at all (because of the ruling).

They also can't contract with the players like a normal job because of Title IX - so you cannot establish 2/3 contracts with built-in geographic non-compete clauses.

The NCAA really is between a rock and a hard place. I'm by no means an NCAA apologist, but I don't know what the move really is. They would need Congressional limitations on Title IX and a Congressional Antitrust Exception.

Adding to this - - Niko plays a lot of guards (6-7 guards usually get 10+ minutes per game) and he has a tighter rotation with his big men.

Interesting insight. Question: Would it be legal for the NCAA to reinstate the one year sit out transfer rule? In my opinion, this is what ruins it. College players have more freedom than professional players. Forcing an athlete to sit out an entire year if they want to transfer would obviously cut down on transfers by about 90%, along with the five to play four rule (which I’m not even sure is still in place or is at the very least being challenged)?
