Sure. But the reality is there's no reason to think recruits are going to flock to play for some guy from Canada they've never heard of. He might be brilliant, but there's a huge chance it would be disaster of a hire. It's the equivalent of hiring Marc Trestman for the football job. Huge pass.I'm sure someone said that about Bo Ryan at some point during his long non-Power 5 career.
I vote for Dave Smart
A Bobby Knight bobbleheadHave yet to see a name in here that would be an upgrade
Palm has us a 7 seed and Lunardi an 8th seed. Great job team and Coach Pitino!
Should be sitting at a 3 seed right now. They have pissed the bed in Minnesota sports fashion and lost to 2 teams in a row they should have beat. Had they won those 2. Had they done that, they would be ranked about 10th-12th and sitting in the 3 line.
As it sits they got outplayed in both of those games, embarrassed and now 1 more loss away from the bubble...
Or a cardboard cutout of Adolph Rupp. How about another Kentucky coach? Calipari?
Yeah I think pre season we all would have been moderately surprised being a 7 or 8 seed at this point. I'd say overall they're slightly exceeding where my expectations were (especially with the beginning of that schedule). If they can right the ship and just be ok the rest of the way we should be in pretty comfortably. We may miss the tournament or we may get on a hot streak and have a fun rest of the 20-21 season. All i know for sure is i am happy with a 7 or 8 seed at this point in the season.
Low expectations for a power 5 team with a brand new facility. Should the requirement not be to make a field of 68 bleeping teams every year.We may miss the tournament or we may get on a hot streak and have a fun rest of the 20-21 season. How about Damon stoudimire?
Thad Matta?

OK Mrs Pitino. We'll see where the season ends. We are likely an 8 or 9 seed which i am happy with at this point. Could very well get on a hot streak coming up here and improve our seed. In 16-17 and 18-19 we were playing our best at season's end so have a history as well of finishing strong.
Thad Matta?
I was thinking of Matta this morning as well and was shocked he was only 53. Obviously his health is the big concern and he's been out of the recruiting game for a while, but he sure can coach and recruit. Like Tom Kelly during his Twins manager years, Matta looked about 20 years older than he is. I would have guessed he was in his late 60s.
Go Gophers!!
Yup. If healthy and ready to come back. Would loveHis health willing, I would be giddy if we got Matta. Did you know that the nickname of his high school in Hoopeston, IL is the Cornjerkers? I guess we know what the pastime in that small town was.

Point taken, though. Still plenty of chances for wins. These games are going to determine the team's ultimate standing: at Nebraska; home against Purdue and Rutgers.OK Mrs Pitino.
To heck with the terrible record in the big ten, is there one person on this roster that has improved while he’s been at Minnesota. No one gets better under Pitino’s watch. Maybe Marcus Carr, but I would argue that his improvement is more based on being a ball hog and being able to shoot whenever he wants to. He’s never disciplined for poor play or poor decisions and You can’t tell me the other players don’t see that double standard. We'll see where the season ends. Great point! I have no idea why Coffey and Oturu didn't submit to the NBA draft directly out of high school. To heck with the terrible record in the big ten, is there one person on this roster that has improved while he’s been at Minnesota. OK Mrs Pitino.
Yeah. I'm not seeing the love for him. He's nowhere near by top 5. In his prime he was pretty good, but that was long ago. What does Matta do for people? I guess I dont see it. Fell off later in his OSU days and hasnt coached for a few years. He had a couple really nice seasons but im not sure he gets the Oden/Conley/Sullinger caliber guys here. He is one of the ones mentioned here that I personally dont see as a great fit. Additionally, guessing he would want more money than others which im going to assume is going to be a factor.
We're 1-5 since January 3rd and you're telling us how he's doing a nice job growing through the season and we finish strong.....Definitely think Richard would be disappointed to open his domicile door and see me. However, to my credit do feel i bring an engaging smile and legs that are worth a second look. The facial hair might be a problem.
After this season, will have made the dance 3 out of 5 seasons. Would have been 4 out of 5 if not for the injuries and also losing lynch in 17-18. If you get some time, check out how many tourney wins other big ten teams have the last 4 seasons. Coach Pitino does a nice job of growing a team throughout the season. Saw a lot of good things last night to build on despite the loss. Am excited about what the rest of the season has in store.
