I could be wrong, but I don't think Reussee is much of an agent guy. He knew Bill pretty well it seems. Whoever his source is, I doubt it's Musselman's agent.

It's not hard to tell when he's trolling. This isn't one of them. That said, I'd keep expectations in check. I'll be quite happy with Smith or Dutcher.

If he's trolling with false claims of inside knowledge, that would be a new low, even for him. Is there a journalist in the country who would ever be suspected of that, much less capable of it?
 

I would think Musselman isn’t realistic but who knows.

After reading more about Dutcher starting to find him more interesting. Do find it curious he stayed an assistant for so long. Even the head coach in waiting tag was on him for a number of years.

I mean, he was, but you throw shit enough and you look like you're plugged in. The Brew firing was inevitable. I am sure if you look on Gopherhole, you'll find a number of folks who said he'd be gone weeks earlier. Look at this board now, lots of folks talking about Pitino's replacement before anything's been confirmed. It's kind of obvious.

I'm not saying he isn't plugged, but I wouldn't be impressed with anyone's augury for predicting Brew was gone.

Jerry Jones is also an alum and big donor to Fayetteville, though not sure if he does anything outside football (probably, just to lazy to Google it).

They probably have other oil men too.

Also two other Fortune 500 companies headquartered in NWArk: Tyson Foods and JB Hunt (trucking).

This is a great point.

That said, I don't think Utah St and Colo St are exactly equivalent situations to come into. Granted, the coach before Smith had done poorly in three seasons at Utah St. But the coach before him had been there 17 seasons and won a lot of games there.

I don't think Colo St had much modern success in bball before Miles? The guy after him had an interesting/odd pattern of success one year followed by mediocrity the next year (sounds familiar ...). Then Niko and they've steadily built up. Tied for the lead in the conference at the moment.

There were like 120 NCAA violations, but like 80 of them were letting the players use a car that some car dealer lent him. Every time one of the players drove it off campus, it was a new violation. Not giving the players cars, just having one they could use. I think the rest involved players selling their game tickets.

On the other hand UNC had a fake major for 20 years and that's totally fine.

Yes, but the rules do not apply to North Carolina. Or Duke, We will see if they do to Kansas or to Arizona.

I heard Reusse talking about it and I don't remember his exact words, but he made it sound like someone connected to the U. My sense was a booster or someone around the program he knows, though not necessarily in the athletic department.

Now Doogie -- he's the agent guy. I like Doogie more than most around here, but he's the one who pays too much attention to agents.
 




I have 0 idea who these coaches are, and its not how business is done in the B1G, but why do colleges never try to get some of these super HS/prep school coaches to take over? I dont know who runs Minnehaha Academy but he seems to be doing ok! or the person who is the coach at Monteverde or Oak Hill of IMG one of these places. Its the same thing, they recruit kids and play a national schedule. The one case I can think of this is the coach from i want to say Bishop Gorman in Vegas went from there directly to the coach for UNLV in football. That didnt work as he got fired after 4 years but i mean as much as its kind of a joke, is it really though? Our current coach was a touch over 500 in his 1 year of college coaching. I am willing to bet that Monteverde with Simmons/Russell/etc could have beaten that team. Again I have 0 idea who the coach is at Minnehaha, but if Chet/Miller's/Aligbe love him and came to the U could it be that bad? Heck if we had Chet starting and Master P in the front row we would at least get a ton of national exposure! Obvoiusly this wont happen and I understand the concept why, I do think its a semi interesting option though.

A whole new level of responsibilities and management to run a D1 level program over a high school! The HS hot shot coach has to typically take some time learning the ropes as an assistant before just jumping into the fire.
