New gold helmet??

I'm a meh on these, mostly because I truly love the look of the maroon helmets and don't look forward to watching a game when we're not wearing them. That's how I felt about the white ones in the bowl game last year, and how I anticipate feeling this year with the yellow/gold.
 

I like them but I too would have preferred a matte finish.
 

Sorry, just my opinion...but pick a uniform and stick to it. I don't like to use certain opponents for examples, but you don't see tOSU, scUM, Penn St., etc....pulling this crap. I want us to establish an identity both in our play and our style. Constantly changing the latter doesn't help the former.

Both Osu and Michigan have done so.
 


Love the gold helmets.

Love the retirement of the white helmets.

Now they need to burn all of the white pants in a fire and then I will have no complaints about the uniforms.

Whether you like it or not, this is not going away...not for the Gophers and not in college football.

They specifically talked about uniforms during the BTN show. I swear some people live in a bubble and don't pay attention to what is going on. It is a fashion show and it will be for some time.

Very seldom. We do it all the time with some terrible combos.

Describe the Gopher uniforms................................................you can't.......it's impossible.

You're correct. Although I'm not wild about multiple uniform combos, I get it that this is the trend. Old guys like me need to accept that change is inevitable and it is better to get on board rather than be left behind. I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised with the new gold/yellow helmets.

Fair enough. I just wouldn't put Ohio St. and Michigan with Penn St. when it comes to the uniforms.

Penn St has boring unis, partly because their colors are boring.

We have great bold colors, just like Mich. I believe Mich wears gold pants always and white or their blue jerseys. Maybe once a yr they wear the M jersey. Mich is probably my favorite uni.

Haven't seen OSU change much either. Their uniforms are ugly anyway. Boring colors and those stupid grade school stars on the helmet.

Something tells me Phil Knight is a grown up and Oregon's rise supports this.

I say keep the creativity coming and make The U cool again for 18 year olds.

The gold helmets are great and I think the white were as well.

Yep, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and the rest of the SEC agree. Teams that win don't need to consistently need change their uniform for today's 18 year olds.

Again, LSU has had alternative uniforms. As has Georgia.

And you're straw manning this thing. I never said you HAD to do this to be successful. You're the one equating us to Alabama.
 

I'm not "straw manning" anything. I don't believe a team should change their uniform identity for 18 year olds. Once you start, you lose your identity.

The best teams don't recruit to the uniform. They just ask if you want to play for a winner!!

Unfortunately, corporate money has become the driver for this "alternative uniform" thing.

I am a fan of the traditional look. Traditional being the 1970's of course.
