Nebraska with a comfortable 75-56 win over the Richmond Spiders to open the NCAA tourney. Britt Prince with 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting to lead the Huskers. Will be interesting to see how BIG teams fare in the tourney.

Yes, will be interesting. As I understand, the BigTen receives $114,000 for each win.

This Ohio State and Howard game on ESPN 2 right now really entertaining. Was 18 to 15 after 1 quarter, now 43 to 19 in 2nd quarter. Ohio State adjusted there press started blocking shots, and Gray started making 3's. Ohio State asserted there will on defense with that press, and made Howard misd 10 straight shots. Feel the Gophers should review how they broke press against Ohio State. Ole Miss going to press from end to end tomorrow so taking care of basketball an imperative.

BIG with 12-1 record in tourney after Saturday's games. Nebraska the team with the loss. 6 more BIG games today, with BIG teams the underdogs in 4 of those games. Gophers a slight favorite in what should be a very good matchup.

Notes from Maryland's loss to North Carolina: Maryland loses by 8 with Poffenbarger 0 for 10 and Garzon 0 for 6 beyond the arc. Maryland 17 of 31 from the free throw line. And attendance in Chapel Hill was an embarrassing 2400. And, no, the NC men were not playing today.

Iowa is on the ropes in 2nd overtime. Virginia up up up 80 to 73. Virginia wins!

Looked like IO felt the pressure of being favored @ home.

Lack of scoring, they went final 4 minutes and change of regulation without scoring a point. Missed free throws by Stulke.
Well sure any team that loses scores less.
I was referring more to their overall play. They looked tight like we did in the first 3 quarters of the GB game. Playing a 10th seed @ home comes with expectations.

So you're saying you'd rather play a 3 or 4 seed than a 10 seed?

Gophers could be one of only three B10 teams to advance to the Sweet 16😃

Carver-Hawkeye can become a very quiet place when the beloved Hawkeyes are losing. Feel for Steulke. Not a great way for her to end her Iowa career.

Dang B10 probably goes 3-8 in the second round. Was the conference overrated or small sample size?

Bye bye, Buckeyes. Hawkeyes and Buckeyes unable to take advantage of homecourt seeds. I strongly doubt that we'll be able to say that about UCLA.
Maybe the Gophers would've had no problem with them but I was glad Notre Dame didn't do enough to move up to 5-seed and end up with the Gophers in fear of Hannah Hidalgo possibly getting a dozen steals and going off against the Gophers.

Never said that. I was commenting on the fact that sometimes being a higher seed on your home court brings performance pressure . Sophie Hart talked about exactly this when she said they came out tight against GB with the big crowd , being a higher seed and playing @ home.

After watching the Gophers and Iowa, it is pretty evident that the NCAA(at least on the women’s side) is still woke. Some of the officials are obviously DEI hires. Sad, really sad that would happen for the final tournament. Maybe ESPN required the marginal officials be hired.

And then there were three... just a #1, #2, and a lowly underrated 4 seed.

Eight teams; a #2, #3, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, and #11 seeds all wishing they were in our spot...

Some of our higher seeded teams lost to lower seeded teams.

Iowa's home loss to #10 seed Virginia was a real surprise.

B1G looks to be the 3rd best conference in the tourney.

Good first game with Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. 67-64 for Notre Dame in 6 over 2 seed. I'd like to see the women's game adopt the WNBA, advancing the ball, rule so that these timeouts are all shortened.
Triple-double for Hannah Hidalgo today.

UCLA with their hands full with Duke. B1G conference just lacks athleticism overall.
Duke faced a serious contender in LSU in the S16 and almost lost while despite what UCLA coach said about the Gophers it was basically a glorified scrimmage against the Gophers and they were not ready for this matchup with Duke.

I am hoping for UCLA vs Michigan in the Final Four. If Michigan makes it, they could have a run at it for a few years.

UCLA is pretty damn good basketball team. As good as Duke is UCLA has more depth.
