MN HS Basketball 2024-25 Season thread

33 for Chase in win over TG sending Alexandria to title game against Mankato East. East beat Alex in holiday tournament, in December by 4 points in OT. Should be a great game on Saturday at 1pm at WIlliams Arena.

Thompson is just a great kid too. Very unselfish. He was the QB on the second place team and named the Gatorade football player of the year this year.

No reason to care anymore in 4A. Transfer schools win. 3A should be great, two community teams.

Agree. Do you think they have to go 4 classes because there are so many teams? I can’t believe how many charter schools there are…
It was travesty in the 90s. We had two classes, then We got the sweet 16, which at first I was upset. Then watched it and said hell yes.

The folks at MSHL made a big to do over it not being fair for New London Spicer. And Minneapolis North winning both years.

Then right to 4, not back to two.

The jag offs wanted to give everyone a trophy.

I could handle 2, but 4? For what? Even 3 is way too many. Makes sense in football. Little schools can compete in Basketball.

When I went to De La Salle we had roughly 300 kids. 69 in my class. De la Salle has been to State more times than any other school (set the record tgis year) despite only being allowed to compete since 75.

Corderback
Everytime there was a tie up, he had no clue where the possession arrow was and so there was a long pause...and then he sounded shocked when the referee pointed. How hard is it to know where the possession arrow is?

Dave Lee is a radio legend, and by all accounts, a very nice man. But he's an absolutely horrible, horrible sports play by play announcer and has been forever.

Cretin and Wayzata wouldn't be there if they didn't have significant transfers who transferred there only because they thought they could win a state title. Congratulations.
Well, Cretin is a private school, so by definition, everyone there is a transfer.

Dave Lee is just SO hard to listen to. They really need to find someone else to do this.
He covers the game like he's on radio. I can see on TV the shot is missed and he is still carrying out the "up goes the SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT."

Couple him with Steve Lappas on CBS from yesterday and they would be a match made in heaven.

There needs to be a private school championship, ya I said it. DeLasalle, Minnehaha, and CDH can go at year after year. Two future nba players absolutely spanked everyone for a few years in AA...

I would maybe have agreed pre-open enrollment. But with OE, the recruiting advantage they once had is mostly gone. Now if private schools start paying 'NIL' money to get kids in, that's another story.

Start? That started long ago

I know there are some problems with having 4 classes, but those Class A semi-finals games were really fun to watch. All 4 very small schools. It would be a shame if those schools didn't make it to state.....

Put the top 32 teams in 4A, take some 4A put into current 3A, take some current 3A and put into current 2A, take some current 2A and put into 1A

Physically Waseca can't match up with Breck, could be a long night. Sophomore on Breck looks good, doing some damage on both ends early

Other way. 128 in 3A, then split the rest into two classes. Just 3 classes.

Exactly. All those kids are on scholarships. A lot of the money comes directly from Vatican City or shadowy organizations setup to make millions from winning MN state high school games, from what my sources have told me. Most of my sources are middle age dudes that weren't good enough to win championships in high school, so they say that the kids that beat them were cheating or on scholarships, but their stories check out to me.
