Richard only won with Issiah Thomas's players.
Top 3 scorers were all guys brought in by Pitino.

My sources: In temperament, personality, younger Pitino more like Billy Donovan than his father."
Well, a Mrs.Pittino was involved too.
But in all fairness...Norwood officially started in July but was hired before then. The previous AD brought Norwood in on the process late since he was the one who would ultimately have to work with whomever was hired. But it is true that Norwood didn't make the hiring decision.
Michigan State fans don't think too much of the hire: http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Minnesota-hires-Rick-Pitino-17916419/1
However, they also have people seriously saying that Isiah Thomas would have been better hire, so you can take them for what they're worth.

Nice try...
"During his first 72 hours on the job, Pitino had five different Panthers come into his office and tell him they were transferring. He was left with a total of three scholarship players on his roster. No one was surprised when FIU was picked to finish 10th in the 11-team Sun Belt before the season."

If that's the case, it took Billy several years to build a good team. Are the fans here willing to wait? Tubby raised the bar here. lets see if the young guy can match that.

Go away; Tubby started from the depths of Clemson in the ACC challenge and brought us to relative competitiveness. You are not a fan of the program
I wouldn't hire Isaiah Thomas to walk my dog. He'd probably trade him for magic beans or something.
Niether are you.

You have to be kidding me. If you look at W/L and tournament success he's only marginally better than Monson.

Interesting hire. I like that his team at FIU played at a fast pace, and I would expect him to bring some of the same elements as Rick has with the full court press and traps and changing defenses. I hope he does bring that style into the Big Ten. Playing that sort of uptempo style would I think help recruiting. This is definitely a gamble.
Here's the official press release from the U:
Minnesota and Richard Pitino Reach Agreement
Richard Pitino has been selected as the finalist for the position of University of Minnesota men’s head basketball coach. Pitino and the university have a reached an understanding in principle on the key terms of an agreement, according to Director of Athletics Norwood Teague.
The terms of the agreement will be finalized later this week. Details of the agreement and further information regarding a scheduled press conference will be forthcoming.
Haha, what in the world kind of wording is that? He's been selected as a finalist? Have reached an understanding? LOL
