Mason, McBrayer and Dorsey suspended

Let's assume there's nothing illegal here...

If you're in charge of the program, do you want this to be the face of the program?

I mean it's already bad enough that they kept playing that warm-up video when they were 0-14. Now this...

we were never 0-14. so you can take the paper bag off your head now.

Wondering most about what Jordan Murphy is thinking

At this point I'm most worried about what Jordan Murphy is thinking. After all this if there's a chance for someone to become the face of the program (in a good way), Murphy is the guy. Hope he's not thinking, "Screw it, I'm outta' here."

100% this.

You'd think a guy that played for the Gophers would have a better idea of their record...

If it's not one thing it's another. Why is this program always being pooped on? Frustrating.

Kick anyone off the team.................

.
Erroneous post.

I'm not suggesting there is no bad luck, but we're always taking risks to compete. Kill's health concerns were known, Jeff Jones was allowed in as an academic risk, Pitino was known to be high-risk high-reward given his age. We try to fill everything up with jucos and risks to compete. Some teams like Baylor or Iowa State have made it work. We have not.

Kill of course was in a different class than those other risks, but I wouldn't say we're cursed. I'd say almost every situation we've taken a risk on, that risk has bitten us.

I say we hire Jessica Alba as Head Coach and watch our recruiting rankings go through the roof. She probably can't coach basketball but kids would be saying "Calipari who?".

Yep, and what the Coffeys are thinking. Shot of King sitting on the bench after he fouled out yesterday. Just looked miserable. Can't believe there aren't other players having the same feelings.

Say it again but can't believe the denial, excuse making, rationalization going on here. Somebody was trying to make it into an age thing. It is in a way. "Being young, lots of people do this, phone being stolen, no crime was committed, etc." are pretty weak excuses to the vast majority of Minnesotans, even if they sound really logical to somebody sitting in the student section. Participating in group sex and recording it really isn't accepted behavior no matter how you sugarcoat it. You think Kaler, the regents, and others want to look like they're minimizing this when they're going to the legislature asking for money or trying to hit somebody up for a donation to the U? I'm enough of a hypocrite to hope there's some way out of this because I like watching a winning team and can see the potential for one. But based on even what is known now, I'd also understand if they're gone.

(Betcha Beth Goetz never thought her audition for the AD gig would include a problem solving test like this.)

True, but we also get in our own way. Prior to hiring Pitino we were looking hard at Flip. They told him he couldn't hire his son as an assistant, even though he is an NBA assistant, and drove Flip back to the Wolves. I'm guessing most of you would agree that Flip would not have been a reach and with Flip's unfortunate passing, we might have Musselman coaching right now!

Warm-ups would definitely be must see!

In light of recent events, I was thinking more of Jenna Jameson.

Probably because most people don't want to believe he would be that stupid.

I get that...but it was his Twitter....so until someone with knowledge of what happened says that his phone was hacked....I'm inclined to believe he did make a really poor choice. That being said....if Pitino thinks he can control and manage Dorsey and that he has learned his lesson, I don't think he should necessarily be kicked off the team if he posted this video. Suspend him for the rest of the year or whatever Pitino thinks is fair and give him a chance. If he isn't sure he can, Dorsey might not be worth sticking his neck out for him. For Pitino, his program is bigger than just Dorsey.

Although time will undoubtedly heal the damage done, and perhaps by the middle of next year it would be far in the rearview mirror with the three players still on the roster, I am still thinking that having these guys move on is in the best interests of all involved. I am sure someone would pick them up.

Gophers could still be a solid team next year and Coffey would be your PG. Pitino has now kicked off, suspended at least six of his recruits, with another quitting after less than two months. Needless to say, the success/retention rate needs to improve.

I'm in agreement. Your comment about being a hypocrite rings true with me as well. I'm sitting here in the worst way wanting the Gopher basketball program to be a winning one, and at the same time one we can be proud of the young men representing us. Yet now as a season-ticket holder I'll go to the Gophers-Badgers game Wednesday night, and if these guys suit up, I'll be cheering for them. It's a strange feeling, one I don't feel particularly comfortable with.

Obviously, I hope there's nothing more sinister to this than plain stupidity. Hope these guys (whether in a Gopher uniform or somewhere else) figure out they're not just representing themselves, they're representing their families, university, coaches, and teammates.

And they are also representing their state. It's difficult for kids to see that though. I'm guessing that this is just plain stupidity...and hopefully they are learning this lesson and can continue and finish their careers as Gophers.

If he was the one who actually recorded the video I'd strongly think about booting him, if he actually posted them, bye-bye.

If Dorsey posted the video do you actually think he posted it without the knowledge, consent, and probably assistance of the other two, I highly doubt that, this type of thing is truely a team effort.

One wonders what the status of the relationship is between these three guys and if they can even play together anymore. Could be animosity between them.

Mason and McBrayer should play tomorrow regardless, I am failing to see what they did to warrant more than 1 game for being idiots and putting yourself in that situation. Dorsey, wait to hear the facts, but unless he didn't have consent to take those videos, I don't think it warrants kicking off the team.

This is a good point. It feels like most are portraying this as 3 perps, one victim (if there is a victim). But what are the odds Mason and McBreyer didn't consent to being videoed and having it posted too? And now they're being punished for it.

Count me among those who believe Dorsey posted it himself. But, while the others all knew they were being taped, it's certainly possible that it was posted without their knowledge. In fact, that could have been the reason it was deleted -- after one of the others saw it.

I could see the 3 being fine with shooting the video, I find it hard to believe collectively, they could possible be that stupid, to know and agree that the video gets posted on twitter. That's way, if he acted alone on posting the video, get rid of him.

So if he did post it wouldn't you think maybe he\they were drunk? On drugs? I mean seriously - nobody can be that stupid sober.

That's why I have to think he posted them by himself... not even all 3 if them could be that stupid under the influence.

Another large tire added to the dumpster fire that this season has been.

Victim? Maybe the players are the victims? I mean it goes both ways. Chances probably are no victims but a bunch of morons, women included. Perps what are you watching too much Special Victims Unit????

Might not even be his call on this one. Might be decided from someone above him.
