Everything you want is right here.

Play where your family can watch you in person every home game.

Play where the HS fans and local writers who have been watching you and writing about you can keep on watching and writing about you.

This train is moving, be the guys that jump on board and step on the throttle to the next level!

It was neat at Tubby's on court post game conference - when someone yelled - Tyus - your best home is here!

It was cool to see them all together after the game....sure gets you pumped for the possibility of it happening!

The three G set of Vaughn, Tyus and Andre is mind numbing. How could anybody possibly defend the perimeter and the dribble penetration? Travis and Ellenson pounding down low...Wow.

ok, a point no one has brought up yet, January 1st is when official visits begin, which is tomorrow, I am not sure on the rules, but does that mean today was the last day recruits could visit like they did today and not have it count as an one of their 4 official visit, for the 2014 class that is. If so, great job by tubby and staff to get them all here on the last day they can without having it be an official visit if that is the case. I know Vaughn has already said he wouldn't make an official here because he has seen the place and would rather use his visits to see other schools, but if anyone knows more the rules, please share how exactly it works. thanks

fun to think about, but I am pretty sure andre will be gone when ellenson is here, unless you are talking about wally, but he isn't exactly a pounder, but yeah, could be very good in a few years

If Ellenson does come here, Dre will have graduated.

Sorry for the oversight. Point stands.

So, what are the chances of these 3 recruits signing up for the Gopher Basketball? All responses are more than welcome because I don't know. Sure would be nice, though.

Personally, this is the way I see it:

Tyus: Not a great chance. I'd say he ends up at Duke but I think we still have a shot.

Vaughn: Pretty good chance. His relationship with Rodney is very helpful IMO and I think he will end up in Maroon and Gold but certainly not a lock.

Travis: Tougher to gauge, not as much publicity on him. For whatever reason I don't feel great about our chances but that is nothing more than a hunch.

I know you didn't ask about this one but for the record I think we ultimately get Henry Ellenson too.

I think the difference between an official visit and just a regular visit is that the school pays for an official visit, so if some recruit from New York really likes the University of California, he or his family don't have to pay for a plane ticket across the country and a hotel and whatnot. It's why Rashad Vaughn isn't going to take an official to the U, because he lives so close by that he doesn't need to use an official and have the school pay for the 1 or 2 hour drive to the U. He'll probably take officials to places like Kentucky and Kansas, which are farther away and so making trips to those colleges would cost more money. So Vaughn not taking an official here definitely doesn't mean he has no interest in coming here.

With regard to Reid Travis, I thought I heard he liked Stanford a lot. He doesn't have an offer from them as far as I know, but I think I've heard that Stanford can't offer athletes scholarships until they've been admitted to the school, don't know if that's true or not though.

I've heard from a good source the one school that could draw him away from the Gophers is Stanford & they absolutely offered him a couple months back. He 100% has the grades to get into Stanford if he wants to go there.

Thanks for the responses. Even if Tubby does not sign most of them, we'll still get some pretty decent kids from around the nation. Amen. Go Gophers!!!!

they were all in the same general area but no, they were sitting individually with their families in fairly close proximity to one another.

Thanks. I was at the game but I didn't see any of them... Did the camera ever pan over to them on tv?

Keep it simple

50% chance they come
50% chance they dont come
=
.5 x .5 x .5 = .125% chance

The rest is just a bunch of old men (myself included) guessing

Wow, one Travis at Harvard and another a candidate for Stanford. Impressive. I know the family - good people and good kids. The U would be represented well by Reid.

I can't really blame the kid if he wants to go to Stanford. I would actually applaud him for putting an education ahead of basketball.

That said. A degree from the U is still a great degree.

I think the chances are slim we get a few of these recruits, but the start this season is huge to show they can stay at home, have success, and be part of a solid top ten team.

1/3 recruits- Solid
2/3 recruits- Enough to hold a top 10 ranking
3/3 recruits- 2014 National Championship Favorites??

Don't forget about top 60 Dominique Collier or Goodluck Okonoboh who will be top 100 for sure in that 2014 class.

Need to nab at least 2/5 realistically!

Collier is not local and has a ton of offers. Have we been on him for a while, or are there other factors that give us a good shot?

I wonder how many players who have a team like Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas in their final 3 acutally pick the local school? I remember Oregon having both Kevin Love and Kyle Singler in the same class and both chose elsewhere.

I think they need to land either Vaughn or Tyus to keep most people excited. To see them both leave would be a let down to many fans. Not saying that it is fair, but that is my perception. This is one of the biggest expectations when MN brought in a big name coach, is it not?

I would agree with you on expectations of the common fan. I think many/maybe even most think Tyus will go elsewhere, and many think we have a very good shot at Vaughn. If Tyus announces first and goes elsewhere, there will be a lot of pressure on Tubby to land Vaughn.

Go Gophers!!

Exactly. We "invested" in a name coach and a huge salary so we could keep the ocassional top ten recruit at home. Now we have two top tens and a top 30 to go with them. Keeping this talent at home is precisely why we have this coach. For as negative as people are about our chances of landing any or all of them, I keep looking at a record that shows that Tubby has kept every Minnesota recruit he wanted since he arrived. It is a different ball game with higher level recruits, but he has kept the locals home. That should count for something. White was not a recruiting miss. He did it to himself. I would have expected slightly more national recruiting success than we have had, but a good season could turn that around as well.

Well said, GBM. Can't disagree with your assessment at all.
