How much trouble is Ryan Day in?

A National Championship MIGHT save his job. Anything less than that and he is toast. His overall record won't matter with no National titles and 4 straight loses to Michigan, especially considering how large of a favorite they were coming into this one.

Still could win CFP. $37M buyout. Who would they then try to bring in?

Buyout money won't stop them from making the move. CFP title is probably the only thing that can save him at this point. As for who they would go after....tough to say but I would be they would try and land a big name coach.

If I was Ohio State's AD I haul ass to the Fox announcers booth & wouldn't let Meyer leave the stadium today until they have a deal in place for him to take over and coach the team in 3 weeks.

He's gone. This loss was completely on him, having 12 men on the field after a timeout is inexcusable all of his other coaching errors this game nonwithstanding.
I'd be curious about this. Was the player not listening and went out on the field? Misunderstood?

I think if he makes the championship he is safe. So what big name coach? Sark, Dabo, Smart? If it's someone coaching, there's another buyout they would need to pay, so add an additional $5-8M.

That team they lost to has a better record than Vanderbilt (who beat bama)
It may cost them a home game though. Will be close
I would think, depending on a few other games, they may end up on the road for 1st game. With so much on the line, you can't lose at home as a 23 point favorite. I sure hope no 3 loss teams make the playoffs.

national title or bust now or it's 0/3 on their cited goals from before the season. he's gone unless they get it done. he continually coaches afraid in big games and it costs them against almost every team the talent is even on

Currently 18 teams left in the nation with 2 or fewer losses.
Including 10-2 Louisiana
9-2 UNLV
10-2 Memphis
10-1 army

It’s only 345 on thanksgiving Saturday.
2 loss Georgia playing in SEC title game

The oddest thing is the timing.
At some point due to transfer portal dates it’s really harmful to fire your coach late.

Your whole roster is free to leave but the amount of time you have to fill it isn’t long enough. So you basically have an empty roster until spring

I feel like you can fire a coach after a first round game (round of 12) but the timing is had to fire after Jan 1.

Gosh, attrition may bleed us down to a 3 loss team. Didn't realize it was so few. The 4 you mentioned are out so I guess you need 11 or more 2 loss teams in Power 5. We'll see.

The portal really does put teams in an interesting position when it comes to coaching changes and timing.

Gone barring a natty. Even then I imagine plenty of Ohio State fans would want him gone.

Let’s think this through though, bama fans also want their coach gone. They are in the same situation as Ohio, who do you realistically get to replace them that is a home run hire.

Aaron Taylor just said OSU had a $20M roster on Halftime of the SC-ND game 🤯🤦‍♂️
