How much trouble is Ryan Day in?

Let’s think this through though, bama fans also want their coach gone. They are in the same situation as Ohio, who do you realistically get to replace them that is a home run hire.
It’s only his first year at Bama, but Day has had plenty of time.

As Sweet Lou said @Lou Brown Mike Vrabel would be a good fit; he’s an alum and proven HC in the NFL.

Chris Pederson - maybe he’s tired of being a talking head on CBS?

The oddest thing is the timing.
At some point due to transfer portal dates it’s really harmful to fire your coach late.

Your whole roster is free to leave but the amount of time you have to fill it isn’t long enough. So you basically have an empty roster until spring

I feel like you can fire a coach after a first round game (round of 12) but the timing is had to fire after Jan 1.
They have plenty of money to overcome the problematic timing if they need to make the move.

Does at seem as though the “blue bloods” and perennial powers are more vulnerable than the past years? Wondering if the portal and NIL may be causing the opposite of what I was thinking anyway.
I think cohesion may be a problem with college kids and NIL and Guys who are riding the bench, but quality athletes are moving on, instead of providing depth.

Just thinking on the keyboard.

All the money in the world can’t overcome having about 7 linemen for spring football

I think they’d be fine by fall for sure but it would basically not allow a coach to have a spring that builds anything if they wait too long

True but it might cause one subpar season then it’s a complete reload. If I’m a Suckeye fan who wants him gone, I’m not worried about filling the roster with well compensated students.

Agree

I’m just saying I think that if they do it they do it before Dec 31

If some pro athletes get uptight because they're worrying about their next contract, safe to say that college players might be even more susceptible. And it's inevitable there are going to be issues with players resenting what someone else is getting. Whole lot of pressure to produce and make big bucks affecting blue bloods. (Though Oregon seems fine tonight.)

Gone without making a NC game appearence and even then its iffy. That team lost all its balls - no physicality at all. Chip Kelly was brought in to score points. 10 against an average Michigan team that took the game a lot more seriously than THE ohio state did.

I've been saying from the beginning that the transfer portal will help programs like Minnesota get better. There's a lot of very good players at all positions waiting behind a starter at a top 15-20 program who now have an option to start sooner. NIL will calm down as well as more high paid players are a bust or underperform.

He would make a ton of sense but im not sure he’d take it. Feels like an NFL guy.

I think if they move. It’s Marcus Freeman.
That would make a splash for sure, and this board would immediately go crazy with Notre Dame Fleck speculation.

Vrabel hates recruiting and will get an NFL gig again. The guy Ohio State will target first is Marcus Freeman, period. Played there. Grew up in Huber Heights. He will be the first target, 100%.

Their QBs the past two seasons have been meh.
Kyle McCord and Will Howard are pretty good QBs. CJ Stroud also went 0-2 versus Michigan. Michigan had JJ McCarthy for two of these games but they also had Cade McNamara and Davis Warren win games in this 4 year stretch.

IMO, the difference has entirely been in the trenches. Both in the run game and getting after the Buckeye QBs. They don't have to sell out to stop the run and they aren't giving Ohio State time to use their weapons on the outside. Through the 4 games, Michigan has averaged 39 carries and 220 yards per game (5.6 ypc). Ohio State has averaged 28 carries and 98 yards per game (3.5 ypc).

Mase would answer the phone.

Of course he tried before...

Vrabel hates recruiting
How go you know this? Source? Relation/friend?
and will get an NFL gig again.
Agreed and I never said he wouldn’t, did I?

My premise is that as an alum and First Team AA there that might be a college job he’d take.

This is your opinion buddy and not a Fact, unless you’re privy to actual information and not conjecture🤷‍♂️

Played there.
Obviously Vrabel did as well and is in their HOF.
Grew up in Huber Heights.
Apparently you’re unaware that Vrabel grew up there as well😃; born in Akron and went to HS in Cuyahoga Falls

He will be the first target, 100%.

Day's record:
1-4 vs. Michigan
74-1 vs. all other B10 teams.
That's freaking amazing......
That is unreal but the reality is that when you have the best players conference games are just viewed as a formality. At Ohio State it is all about beating Michigan and competing for National Championships. And of the two, honestly the Michigan record may be more important.

Crazy to think a coach can get fired with that kind of winning percentage but it also won't be surprising at all when he is.

Currently 18 teams left in the nation with 2 or fewer losses.
Including 10-2 Louisiana
9-2 UNLV
10-2 Memphis
10-1 army

It’s only 345 on thanksgiving Saturday.
2 loss Georgia playing in SEC title game
I know that I could check this myself, but the Vegas sportscasters are saying that if the Rebels
l win. they are in, "the biggest game in program history." I agree that this is easily the biggest game any Rebel football game has ever played. Go Rebs!

For sure is
I suppose the only case it’s wrong is if army jumps them. But with Tulane unranked not sure that’s possible

I could see this if they don't try and talk Meyer out of retirement.

I don't think Pederson likes the new environment with NIL, transfer portal, etc. He also has a family member who has special needs and wanted to spend time with family. He was burned out after he left UDub it appeared.

You get bothered really easily, lol. Everything I stated is fact and common knowledge in my circles. Vrabel not liking recruiting is absolutely a fact, also well known. One of my closest friends in life, Dave Dunlap, played with/ against him and still lives in Dublin right now and is extremely plugged in and fills me in all the time on all things Ohio State. I also coached in the Lima area for a half dozen years there before moving and made countless contacts, so yes, I know it will not be Vrabel, and Freeman would be the first call if anything were to happen with Day. Worst kept secret in football.

Thanks for letting me know and good to hear him taking care of the most important things in life.

Freeman is interesting but in new format 10-2 notre dame is going to make playoff 80% of the time whereas 10-2 is getting day run out of town (and I would argue Ohio state plays a tougher schedule).

So you’d have to blow away the money. And as some know, the pope has deep pockets
