Greenlee enters portal

interesting.

If Carr comes back, Robbins is eligible, and we can fill one (edit) of the remaining scholarships with another piece who can contribute next year, we'll be dancing!!

Down to three guards, Williams, Kalschuer, and Mashburn for now with Carr a question mark, gotta love it.

Classic. Can’t wait to replace him with the next one and done.

Get a non stiff Grad Transfer not a guy who shot 31% from the field and 44% from the stripe. This would keep a 21 offer open in the fall. Rather let the athletic dept. bank the player related expenses than bring in a stiff.

I expect Ishmael El Amin to commit shortly. Much better depth at PG next year and he should allow Carr to play off the ball as well.

As noted in another thread El-Amin is not a grad transfer and not eligible at this point in time, probably would have to sit a year.

Surprised it took so long.

He’d be a grad transfer so you’d still have the 21 scholarship open. And if we don’t take him we are giving the scholarship to a walk-in so we aren’t saving scholarship expenses. He also only shot 7 FT’s last year so that percentage is irrelevant. Was 80% two years ago.

Unless he is a locker room cancer there are zero downsides to taking him as opposed to banking the scholarship. We desperately need more wing depth as Tre and Gabe are the only true wings on the roster right now.

giving a walk on a ride is optional...Dept. could save the tuition , books, room and board mula. Prefer a one and done kid who can play some power 5 ball.

Best of luck BJ. I do hope Pitino has some instant impact transfers lined up. Could otherwise be short handed again

Great get a grad transfer for this year and offer Tschetter for next year.
Its really this simple stop talking late flyers on 4 year players and pocket the schollie for next year to give you leeway to offer a fringe kid you may want before they blow up

Greenlee transferred because he heard Carr is returning and knew he wouldn't play a minute behind Carr and Mashburn Jr. Best of luck to him - let's get El-Amin and move on.

per Marcus:

Gophers freshman point guard Bryan “BJ” Greenlee will transfer to play for another program next season, sources confirmed Saturday to the Star Tribune.

Greenlee, a 6-foot, 190-pound Florida native, averaged 2.6 minutes in 19 games for the Gophers during the 2019-20 season. The former three-star recruit and standout for The Rock School in Gainesville, Fla. is the second guard to transfer from Minnesota this spring.

Last month, starting junior guard Payton Willis announced he was transferring and signed to open the late period with the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Go Gophers!!

Good luck to the kid.

Frustrated with a lot of what is going on.

We’re starting to look like Wichita State. A lot of recent departures.

This is only good news if we see a couple stud freshmen or grad transfers are waiting in the wings, and Carr comes back. We are thin in the backcourt if those things don’t happen.

Only time will tell if this is good news or bad news. If Carr leaves and if there is a season to be played; Pitino has to win to stay. That'll be 3 open scholarships to fill with one guy iffy eligible and one iffy healthy. Gotta get 3 eligible good players in May/June if so. That will not be easy will it? Even two better guys than what we had....remember we gotta win. No building for next year. That luxury has sailed.
Greenlee was insurance to me. I hope it means Carr returns but....?
Maybe Mr Rice returns if Carr returns? But he needs a waiver. Rock and hard spot for all this.
