Gophers in Mayo Bowl vs Va Tech!!

Booked! Looking forward to seeing my fellow Gopherholers in Charlotte! Last time attended a bowl game was in 2005 when my daughter, father (RIP), and I attended the 2005 Music City Bowl. Hoping the outcome is different this time!

Would love to beat VA Tech! I worked in a company here in which many of the senior employees were VA Tech grads. Indeed, the CEO is a HUGE VA Tech football fan and VA Tech donor. The Hokies hatred of all things UVA is on par with Minnesota-Wisconsin, OSU-Meessshhhiiigggannn, and Duke-UNC. This game is for local bragging rights for me! RTB! SUM! Go Gophers! Kick some Hokie arse!

Flights are pretty absurd.

Hoping Sun Country offers something now that destination and date is confirmed...

Hence, Virginia Tech will be able to enjoy chips with their sandwiches and mayo happily, unlike Minnesota. 😔
Damn, bro.

Friday AM to Sunday or Monday ideally.

Need to be at the Barn for the Purdue game on the 2nd (glutton for punishment) so leaving that day isn't an option.
What do you consider expensive? I saw flights on American for under $500.

Yea I saw those, could probably justify that if it comes down to it.
That's a good price for a flight from the Cities unless you are flying to Chicago, NYC or Detroit where there's a lot of options.

Meh not really. Can usually get to Ft Myers, PHX, Denver, etc for well under $300.

Flew Sun Country RT to Ft Myers for $135 last month (granted it was booked like 4 months ahead of time).

It's about the same with Delta. That's probably about the best you can do with major airlines directly to Charlotte. My recent trips to Charlotte have cost $300-600 and that was with booking well in advance. American Airlines has most of the flights out of Charlotte by far.

Again, places where there are a lot of flights and multiple airlines out of MSP. Sun Country has limited destinations. Those all play into the price.

Charlotte is an American Airlines hub.

For those that have spent time in Charlotte, where should you stay and is that close to stadium?
I was there with my son back in 2009 to watch Favre and the Vikes take on the Panthers. We stayed a block away from the stadium at the Residence Inn (by Marriott). Great location and nice hotel. Granted, it was 15 years ago.

Oof, let's hope this game goes better than that one.
