Gopher portal visits and signings

If you can play in 17 games for TEN in your first two (2) years, that seems like more than just a "prospect" to me.

On paper, looks like a terrific signing.
I agree. I’m guessing two come in to compete for two tackle spots with Roy. Or compete with each other for RT.

Who indicated it would be? Or should be?
I know right? I really don't get why some feel the need to make a post like that. Portal season just getting going, not one single person anywhere has indicated this will be the only pickup for the O-Line.

But damn....this looks like a really nice get. Great size and was already getting playing time as a true and redshirt freshman for an SEC team.

Agreed that the wrong tone was used on my post. This kid looks like a potential depth piece for next year with upside for the future.

A starting OT is still needed.

Hopefully, they still have enough money allocated to obtain that player.

I'd say we have the inside track on the Nevada kid as well, considering he's local.
I’m not sure how to feel there. He seems to have good stats but somehow was left completely off all-conference lists. I get that all-conference lists can be subjective but being left off altogether is interesting.

I think there's a possibility he can start right away. He's been stuck behind some really good players at Tennessee.

He has an Oklahoma offer. I'm good with getting him.

One added note - Nevada was 3-9 last year. There just aren't a lot of OL going to get all-conference recognition from a team that is near the bottom of the standings in a 12-team conference. By my count, there were only 15 total OL in the entire league that earned some sort of all-conference honors. Nine (9) of the 15 honorees were from the four teams that tied for the MWC title. That doesn't leave much room for the other eight teams to be represented on the OL.

I guess we will find out soon enough on Warren. They need to hit on the OL transfers this year. Taking a guy like Warren with little experience increases the risk of a bust. I hope he’s as good as the HS rating suggests.

The Oklahoma offer is definitely a good data point in his favor. Only allowing 3 sacks in 1200+ snaps is also impressive.

They will likely need to take another OT, I agree. At some point, they will need to also start allowing the kids they recruited out of high school to play. Be interested to see what Nelson could have evolved into this year if given an entire year. Marshall was a swinging gate and a terrible coaching mistake to let him play the role of matador all season. Let a younger kid with a future play. It was apparent the kid was just overmatched, but they refused to let Nelson give it a shot. Heck, let Ball or Carroll try, too.

Well the SEC sucks. 😂

Agree about DT -- although I haven't really looked at who we've got on the team right now, I just am reacting to the departures.

I think the LB squad is solid/impressive, as is.

Right side of offensive line, unless we think Carroll or Williams (or both) is/are ready to be inserted? (Just observing that we've got a pair of 4-star highly sought after young dudes waiting their turn). Solving this problem unleashes the rushing attack and the passing attack.

An impact WR -- totally agree.

What about corners? I think we're counting on Hopkins living up to Walley's example and starting on Day One. Even so, are you comfortable with the cornerback situation?
No definitely not ok with corner, that’s why I had that as my #2 priority. I feel like we really need some help there along with DT. Agree, right tackle would be the big thing. I do think some of the young guys are talented but unknown. Love a solid vet though.
