GOLD OUT

How can you be a Gopher fan and not have at least one shirt that is not gold? That does not make any sense. You can buy a gold t-shirt, it doesn't have to say Minnesota on it.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!

I love when other alleged fans tell others how much of a fan they are without any knowledge. Growing up in the 80s I strained to listen to WCCO radio 3 hours from the cities to hear Rickey Foggie play through a fading signal. My friend and I sat on the floor and listened to the final mOments of the Michigan upset. Moments I guess I should forget and cancel my season tickets because I don't have a gold shirt. Geezus I can't understand most of you people.

I think you interpreted that backward. He wasn't saying you aren't a fan if you don't have a gold shirt, just surprised that fans of the team haven't acquired a gold shirt along the way.

Ya, though I don't agree that it is most of the people, the ones that you do not understand are those who make no sense because they have been handed everything in life to them from mommy and daddy, therefore others are dirt.

You know, the "my daddy can beat up your mommy", type of people.

Bought gold shirts at the bookstore tonight for my wife and I... I needed a new one and I told her she couldn't be my sidekick tomorrow without one.

Not sure where that came from, at all. I attended the U and paid my way with 0 help from my parents, nor did they buy me a car, pay for my gas, or insurance. Nor did they help me be in the marching band all 4 years or get me a job after I graduated. And yet, somehow, I'm surprised that a person can be a GOLDEN gopher fan without a single gold shirt to wear when it represents half the stock at Target, the UMN bookstore, and other locations (and has frequent discounts including this week at the U bookstore).

Dr Don, glad to see you lumped 2 completely unrelated groups of people together somehow. You know, cuz this thread has obviously been full of people who are full to the brim with mommy and daddy's money ragging on Dpodoll and MinnyGopherFan. I mean they stated it in their profile, right??

Especially when we are in the Red Zone!!! :)

The Case/IH Red Zone..

Got a buddy who works on the St.Paul Campus for the Ag Department. he might be the only one who LOVES that sponsorship!

Only Targets in/near the cities have Gopher gear. The Hutch Target's ONLY Gopher stuff is Goldy Pillow Pets.

Congrats on all that stuff - pick up a $10 Gold Shirt at Gold Country and support the Gold Out..it's the fans being united...and it looks cool. I'm sure there are more important issues in your life you can take a stand on.

I am excited to see all the gold. Growing up a Husker fan, seeing so much red in the stadium every game was so cool. I haven't experienced a Gold Out yet but am super excited to see it.

...and sorry for kinda highjacking the thread for a second, but how is it that there are only 6 tickets listed for this game on stubhub? I know threre will be scalpers but it seems odd to me that there are so few listed online. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention this week... but at the beginning of the week there were a few hundred (many going for $20 or less). I haven't been able to follow the updates too closely this week but is the Gold Out the reason why? Something else?

Hate to burst your bubble but it isn't going to look much different than any other game. These gold outs never work.

That being said, I've worn gold to every gold out and all four of my seats will be filled with people wearing gold. I'll keep doing it as long as they keep trying.

Dang. The student section looked great during the UNH game in all gold. Obviously its hard to get full participation anyway but hopefully the rest of the people make a better effort this week.

I like the idea of handing out Gold towels at the door. That is of course in addition to people wearing gold. Amazing what a b*tch fest this has turned into. Also is it me or is someone overly infatuated with Cupito???

Wear GOLD people!!!

Bought a gold t at Wal-Matt Eden Prairie for $12 this a.m.

Early estimate from walking by the stadium right now is... About 70% gold. That would make this the most successful gold out ever if it holds.

It looked pretty good on tv

Other than the student section, I'd say 60% wore gold. I did not feel out of place wearing maroon, as expected. The lady sitting next to me was wearing a red Nebraska shirt.

A guy sitting near me was wearing gold...an NDSU gold polo shirt.

It looked okay, but you wouldn't have known it was a gold-out if you weren't told.

Funny, Roughly 70% of the state's population resides in the CITIES. I'm sure an even higher percentage of STUDENTS and season ticket holders reside there too. Moreover, where exactly is this fabled TCF Bank Stadium? Oh yeah, right in Minneapolis. There's a Target at the Quarry with plenty of $10-15 gold shirts.

Is that because of the attendance or poor participation? I'm in Europe for work so I'm only going off the few pics I've seen but the sideline STH seats looked to be pretty sparse (fewer than last week) and the student section looked about as full as last week...
